Job summary

The Sui Southern Gas Company Limited in Karachi is seeking a Senior SAN Backup Administrator to oversee SAN backup infrastructure, ensure data integrity, availability, and security, and lead a small team of IT professionals.

Responsibilities include designing, deploying and maintaining enterprise SAN backup architecture on IBM hardware with AIX, enforcing backup policies, coordinating DR plans, conducting drills, and coordinating with vendors for issues, RFPs, and budget planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics/Telecom/Software/Computer Engineering with at least 4 years’ experience in system administration, SAN and backup administration.
• PEC registration is mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, deploy and maintain enterprise SAN Backup Architecture (currently on IBM hardware, AIX OS and centralized storage).
• SAN Backup Architecture may be hosted on other platforms.
• Ensure SAN Backup architecture safeguards data and enables recovery capabilities.
• Evaluate emerging technologies to enhance backup efficiency, scalability and security.
• Conduct regular assessments of SAN infrastructure and implement improvements.
• Develop and enforce backup policies and procedures for data consistency and security.
• Collaborate with IT teams to maintain disaster recovery plans and run periodic DR drills.
• Lead incident management for backup and archiving infrastructure.
• Develop SME knowledge on backup/storage systems and related processes.
• Communicate backup procedures to all stakeholders and coordinate with vendors for issue resolution.
• Prepare procurement documents (RFP/RFQ), SLAs, and budget proposals for OPEX/CAPEX.
• Ensure compliance with Enterprise Risk Management Framework and company code of conduct.

JOB SUMMARY

The purpose of this position is to oversee Storage Area Network (SAN) backupinfrastructure within SSGC, lead a team of skilled professionals to ensure theintegrity, availability, and security of SSGC database.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, build, deploy and maintain enterprise SAN Backup Architecture(currently hosted on IBM hardware, AIX operating system and centralizedstorage system).
• SAN Backup Architecture may be hosted on otherplatforms.
• Design, build, deploy and maintain enterprise SAN Backup Architecture(currently hosted on IBM hardware, AIX operating system and centralizedstorage system).

• Ensure that SAN Backup architecture is able to safeguard critical data andensure data recovery capabilities.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend to enhance backup efficiency,scalability, and security.
• Ensure to conduct regular assessments of SAN infrastructure to proactivelyidentify areas of improvement and implement necessary changes.
• Develop and enforce backup policies and procedures to ensure dataconsistency, compliance with regulatory requirements, and adherence tosecurity standards.
• Collaborate with other IT teams to develop and maintain comprehensivedisaster recovery plans.
• Plan to conduct periodic drills and tests to validate the effectiveness ofthe disaster recovery processes.
• Undertake incident management activities for backup and archiving infrastructure.
• Develop technical subject matter expertise on the assigned backup andstorage systems along with associated processes and procedures.
• Ensure thatrelevant backup processes and procedures are communicated to all concernedfor effective implementation.
• Ensure data backup of critical business machines.
• Supervise in coordinating with vendors to resolve issues.
• Prepare RFP/RFQ to initiate procurement process, SLAs, etc.
• Prepare and propose budget allocation for managing OPEX and CAPEX.
• The individual shall ensure compliance to the Enterprise Risk ManagementFramework enforced in the Company while performing job responsibilities inaccordance with his assigned role.
• The individual shall ensure compliance to the Business Principles and EthicsPolicy / Code of Conduct.
• Undertake any other tasks/assignments as instructed by the immediatesupervisor.
