Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Construction Engineer (Deputy Team Leader) for a long-term project in Sindh Province, Pakistan. The role leads planning and supervision of civil works across drainage, irrigation, and flood protection while coordinating with PIUs, contractors, and safeguards teams.

Ideal candidates hold a Civil Engineering degree with 15+ years of experience, including large-scale infrastructure, and deep knowledge of FIDIC contracts. Travel 20%–40% is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 15 years of professional experience.
• At least 10 years of experience, preferably supervising large-scale drainage, irrigation, and bund rehabilitation projects.
• Strong understanding of FIDIC contracts and government coordination.

Responsibilities

• Lead construction planning and supervision, including review of contractors' work programs, method statements, shop drawings, and QA/QC plans.
• Oversee civil works for embankments, drains, irrigation and distributary rehabilitation, cross-regulators, siphons, bund reconstruction, and flood protection infrastructure.
• Ensure construction complies with technical specifications, climate resilience standards, contractual requirements, and environmental safeguards.
• Enforce quality assurance and quality control measures, supervise field testing, and verify compliance with contractual and safety standards.
• Coordinate with the Project Implementation Units for Irrigation and Forest and Wildlife, contractors, and supervision teams to maintain progress and resolve issues.
• Provide technical input to monthly and quarterly progress reports, payment certification, variation orders, and contract claims or dispute resolution.
