Overview

Horizon Tech is seeking a highly creative, detail-oriented and experienced Graphic Designer (Prepress) to create, prepare and optimize digital artwork for print production. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills in the Adobe Creative Cloud (e.g., Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat), an excellent eye for detail and colour (colour conversions - CMYK/Pantone), and the ability to work under tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality output. We are looking for someone with the ability to create a variety of styles of artwork without the use of AI. We occasionally have requests for web design and social media design.

Key Responsibilities

• Create original artwork for clients: e.g., logos, branding, marketing materials, apparel appliques/decorations, etc.
• Prepare and optimize digital files for print production.
• Embroidery file digitizing.
• Create and apply clipping masks, cut paths, bleeds, and finishing marks.
• Ability to impose variable data and insert QR codes where applicable.
• Tile, layer, resize, and nest artwork while maintaining image resolution.
• Ensure accuracy in scaling graphics and measuring within scaled artwork.
• Proof and error-check files for resolution, bleeds, safety margins, and template constraints.
• Adjust designs for printer limitations and different print and finishing methods.
• Review and proof artwork on photos at scale for accuracy and clarity.
• Verify readability and adjust designs for cutting size constraints.
• Collaborate with the production teams to clarify requirements and recommend adjustments.
• Maintain high levels of accuracy, consistency, and quality control.
• Manage multiple projects within tight timelines and firm deadlines.
• Provide exceptional customer service and communicate clearly via email or phone.
• Work independently with minimal supervision while remaining accountable for output quality.

• Strong creative art background.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (required).
• Strong understanding of prepress processes and print production requirements.
• Experience with bleed, nesting, tiling, and cut path creation.
• Familiarity with various printing equipment, processes, finishings and limitations.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
• Strong organizational skills and time management abilities.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Experience in web design and different social media formatting is highly desirable.
• Fluency in English and proficiency in French are ideal.
