Job summary

Fatima Group is seeking a Geologist for Fatima Petroleum Company Limited (FPCL) in Islamabad to QC cores, logs and other data, and to manage life-cycle progression in geoscience platforms. The role includes data integration with seismic and non-seismic data, and building play fairway and reservoir maps for prospect evaluation.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Geology or Earth Sciences, with relevant geoscience coursework.
• 3–6 years of Geologist experience including logs, cores, cutting and data QC.

Fatima Group is looking to hire an explorationist to fill the role of Geologist in its newly set-up Upstream E&P Petroleum business, Fatima Petroleum Company Limited (FPCL) in Islamabad, PAKISTAN.

What you will do:

The Geologist in our organization will perform QC of cores, logs, outcrops & other remote sensing data and supervise their loading and life-cycle progression & maintaining in Geo-science Database & Apps platforms. He/she will perform data’s integration including but not limited to the seismic, prepare play fairway maps, prospects & reservoir maps, document geological uncertainties, risks & probabilistic resource evaluation of the prospects, YTF of the Plays, and build & maintain Play & Prospects Inventory (PPI), risk registers and assurance peer reviews trackers.

Key Accountabilities:

Technical Skills:

• QC, editing, loading and assuring the integrity of cores, logs, outcrops & other remote sensing data and their life-cycle progression & maintaining in Geoscience Database & Apps platforms.
• Integration of above and Seismic & non-seismic data in collaboration with geophysics experts. Identify uncertainties & quantify risk and GRV computation strategies/ methodologies, with some supervision.
• Basin Modelling, Play fairway & CRS mapping in ArcGIS or other software connected with central databases & LLMs for basin screening, identifying acreage for capture thru bid round applications, farm-ins and M&A, with some suppervision.
• Structural & strati-graphic traps’ definition, mapping from raw data to the derisk studies (inhouse, or JVP/ 3rd party conducted), Opportunity generation, risk & resource assessment (deterministic and probabilistic), Maintain PPI. Ranking for Select decision.
• Cutting-edge technology & Workflows’ grasp, strategy, reassess/ re-directs with seniors’ guidance. Database & Applications knowledge – from deploy to maintain/ use, for delivering LLM, ML, GenAI Digital ecosystem.

Planning, budgeting, commissioning:

• Proposals with plans / budgets and Commissioning of geological databases, review of various geological, geochemical, satellite imagery & DEM and other relevant data & purchasing proposals, and maintenance of data as per digital ecosystem and Data & Apps Platform Vision & Model of FPCL with some guidance of seniors.
• Plan or coordinate with operators to plan / review geological activities and studies. Assign budgets to these activities and their monitoring through the project life-cycle. Prepare and assure the Archiving plan & systems for the interpreted data & results in FPCL systems.

Data interpretation, mapping prospect generation:

• Identify, access, maintain outcrops, logs, cores, remote sensing data in FPCL databases/ LLMs,
• Data interpretation, mapping prospect generation with some supervision. Update of databases and LLMs.
• Deposystems and Structural geometries’ 3D models from all the data’s interpretations generated by self or geophysicists, ready for collaboration session in Immersive 3D visualization Env (HIVE) for decisions.
• Establishing well logs & zones’ correlation with seismic thru synthetic seismographs and seismic facies using generic and extracted wavelets and perform reinforced machine learning for facies, reservoir and hydrocarbon prediction in collaboration and some guidance from the Geophysicists.

Data Management and Processes:

• Work with IT Specialist to develop and implement Cloud-based computing models and OSDU consistent data sets. Smooth consumption of technical databases & applications generated data thru LLM and Geo-AI,
• Work with ITBP to prepare and deploy DAMA-DMBOK framework & best practices guidelines while ensuring data sanitization, data standards, structured and linked master data repositories and integrated database & Apps platforms.
• QC and monitoring of quality interpretation data inputs to the master databases / archives while avoiding waste and redundancy following Lean Six Sigma principles.

Education, Knowledge and Experience:

• Qualification: BS/MS (4 yrs degree & education in Geology/ Earth or Geological Sciences).
• Experience: 3-6 yrs as Geologist in the following: Logs, cores, cutting, well drilling data QC, related data & databases, their interpretation, prospect & reservoir mapping, reservoir characterization. Risk & probabilistic resource assessment of the prospects & fields in an operating E&P company environment. Basin Modelling, Play fairway / CRS maps for basin & plays screening, identifying the acreage for capture thru bid round applications, farm-ins and M&A. Experience of progressing opportunities through stage gates assurance framework with 360 degree stakeholders engagement including Finance & Commercial teams.
• Track-record of assessing & recommending opportunities for new blocks, seismic and drilling on prospects or fields with limited supervision. Wells’ delivery and Look-back with LLD for CIP under limited supervision of the seniors.
