Job summary

Indus Hospital in Karachi is seeking a Generator Operator in Facilities Management to ensure smooth operation of campus generators, perform daily safety checks, and coordinate preventive maintenance with vendors.

Responsibilities include monitoring fuel/oil levels, recording hourly readings, and maintaining logs for the department. Matric with DAE and 3–5 years of relevant experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Matric with DAE required.
• Preferably 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience.
• Knowledge of generator operation and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Ensure smooth operation of generators across the campus.
• Verify the safety and operating parameters of the gensets daily.
• Monitor all preventive maintenance work performed by vendors.
• Coordinate with the manager on any complaints or requisitions related to the generators.
• Ensure electricity is properly switched to and from the generators.
• Plan and implement safety steps and procedures for the generators.
• Monitor and maintain fuel, radiator water, and oil levels in the generator sets daily.
• Monitor and maintain the tension of the generator radiator and dynamo belts.
• Record hourly readings while the generator is in use, including oil pressure, water temperature, load on each phase, and the physical condition of turbo chargers.
• Check the working condition of the generator sets by monitoring smoke levels from the exhaust.
• Monitor the AVR and ensure smooth operation of the alternator linked to the generator sets.
• Maintain daily logs and reports of the generator sets.
• Perform all other tasks assigned by the supervisor or Head of Department.
