General Banking Officer – Responsibilities
- Provide efficient customer service and handle various banking operations at the branch level, including account opening, managing customer queries, and processing non‑financial transactions accurately.
- Assist in maintaining fixed assets inventory, secure stationery, and administrative support.
- Handle customer complaints, refer customers to appropriate services, and ensure compliance with banking regulations and procedures.
- Ensure effective and efficient handling of customers in the branch, providing services according to the laid down service and quality indicators.
- Work in all operation segments of the branches as an inputter/maker level; handle account opening and related processes such as dormancy marking/removal, stop‑payment marking/revoking, account closures, SOA issuance, loan account opening/closing, deceased marking/removal, level migration, etc., for Core and Jazz Cash customers.
- Participate in Gold Loan assessments.
- Prepare deceased customer case refunds and maintain records; manage customer queries efficiently; review and monitor service indicators assigned to the branch and take effective steps for their achievement.
- Perform all types of non‑financial transactions with accuracy as per SOP; guide walk‑in customers and cross‑sell bank products; prepare all relevant reports for submission to CSM and Head Office.
- Ensure annual physical verification of all fixed assets and reconcile the fixed assets register; be the custodian of security stationery and its balancing; oversee administrative support of the branch in liaison with CSM/BM.
- Handle customer complaints, provide appropriate solutions and alternatives within the prescribed turnaround time (TAT).
- Maintain all types of registers/records up to date; review and reconcile sundry and suspense accounts; scan and upload SS cards daily; input clearing instruments and their return marking; refer customers to appropriate banking services; issue/destruct cheque books, bankers cheques, and TDRs, and balance them.
- Act as custodian of received cheque books/ATM cards and manage their delivery/maintenance as per SOP; serve as backup teller where needed; ensure cash sorting accuracy per the SBP Clean Notes policy; process cash deposits and withdrawals in accordance with the Operations Manual; identify and report counterfeited notes; accurately process all cheque deposits and all outward clearing instruments; manage cash exchanges between tellers when more than one teller is operating.
- Co‑ordinate cash transfer from till to vault and vice‑versa at start and end of day; perform all FT's, TT's and clearing entries accurately; balance cash at day‑end (physical cash with system T24); maintain cash balancing register and prepare teller daily cash record, SBP sheet, vault position, average sheet and other cash‑related reports; act as custodian of allocated keys and stamps; undertake any other responsibility assigned by the LM.
Qualifications
- Hold a bachelor’s degree from a reputable institution in a relevant field.
- Have a minimum of 2 years’ relevant work experience.
