Smart Working is seeking a Founding Engineer to own the platform end-to-end across frontend, backend and infra. You’ll drive architectural decisions, ship customer-facing features and grow with a hands-on, autonomous IC. This senior/staff role requires ownership, initiative and ability to operate with high ambiguity in a remote-first startup.

Qualifications

• 5+ years professional software engineering experience.
• 5+ years senior-level full-stack engineering across React/TypeScript frontend and Node/Postgres backend with end-to-end ownership.
• 4+ years senior ownership of cloud deployment, releases and CI/CD.
• 3+ years senior-level experience with Postgres/Supabase or equivalent.
• 1-2+ years using AI-assisted/agentic coding tools in production.
• Have a clear method for checking AI-generated output.
• Be comfortable as a senior/staff-level IC owning product end-to-end.

Responsibilities

• Own the product end-to-end as a solo generalist across frontend, backend and infra.
• Keep the live platform healthy with incident handling and safe releases.
• Use AI tools while verifying correctness, security and robustness.
• Lead ISO 27001 and SOC 2 readiness by April 2027.
• Make the AI assistant and orchestration features reliable and safe.
• Decide what to preserve, isolate, or replace based on risk and value.
• Move across frontend and backend as a true full-stack generalist.
• Harden, scale and evolve the product with delivery intelligence and SOW ingestion.
• Work solo as the hands-on technical owner; help shape early hires.
• Collaborate with founders amid high ambiguity.
