Piogcl is seeking a Fluid Engineer in Karachi, Pakistan to design fluid programs for drilling and completion tasks. The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of experience, strong skills in fluid technology, and IWCF certification.
Your role will involve analyzing mud reports, performing quality control, and ensuring compliance with HSE regulations. Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and have expertise in modeling and software for fluid management.
Fluid Program Design & Engineering – Develops customized drilling, completion, and workover fluid programs, including specifying fluid types (water-based, oil/synthetic-based), mud weight, and additive formulations based on well plans.
Remote Monitoring & Troubleshooting – Analyzes daily mud reports from the rig, uses hydraulic modeling software to monitor real‑time pressures (ECD), and provides troubleshooting expertise for lost circulation, stuck pipe, or well control issues.
Performance Optimization & Analytics – Reviews fluid performance against the plan, conducts pilot tests at the lab to troubleshoot problems, and identifies opportunities to optimize drilling speed (ROP) and reduce costs.
Logistics & Inventory Management – Forecasts chemical needs, coordinates with suppliers to ensure adequate inventory, and manages the logistical movement of products to well sites.
HSE and Regulatory Compliance – Ensures all fluid products comply with environmental regulations (e.g., cuttings discharge limits), reviews MSDS/COSHH documentation, and conducts safety audits of fluid contractors.
QA/QC of Materials – Conducts laboratory analysis and quality control checks on incoming chemicals, bulk products, and specialty additives to verify compliance with company standards.
Expertise in Fluid Technology – Advanced knowledge of drilling fluids, completion brines, and polymers for HPHT (High‑Pressure/High‑Temperature) environments.
Hydraulics & Rheology Modeling – Proficient in modeling ECD (Equivalent Circulating Density), hole cleaning, and surge/swab pressures to preserve wellbore integrity.
Solids Control Expertise – Understanding the performance impact of shakers, centrifuges, and other separation equipment.
Software Proficiency – Experience with well planning and fluid management software.
Education – Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related science field.
Experience – 3‑5 years of experience in an office‑based role. Significant, proven experience as a field fluid specialist (mud engineer) is typically required to transition to an office‑based expert role.
Certifications – IWCF.
