Overview

Female Interpreter-Dari Speaker (Attock)

The Interpreter will work under the supervision of Case Managers/Community Protection Officer. The person will work closely with persons of concern, namely asylum-seekers, refugees. Occasionally, the candidate will also interact with the senior management and other project staff.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Performs oral interpretation during interviews conducted for protection activities
• Interprets oral conversations, discussions and counselling sessions with refugees and asylum-seekers, including psycho-social counselling, and other counselling sessions with vulnerable and/or traumatized individuals;
• Interprets at public meetings or events, as required;
• Interprets and/or translates from hand-written reports and applications, certificates, documents, newspapers, magazines etc.;
• Supports the unit with collecting and maintaining records on country of origin information;
• Assists with contacting refugees via telephone, upon the request of protection caseworkers
• Assists with completing referral forms and other documents as required with inclusion of updating information in KOBO Toolbox database
• Travels with CBP staff on their community visits for interpretation and other assistance, as needed
• Provides other support to the CBP teams and takes minutes/notes;
• Performs clerical duties to support CBP and general protection caseworkers (such as scanning, copying, retyping translations and/or interview transcripts);
• Assists with the interpretation and translation of communication and visibility products;
• Performs other duties as required.
