Job description

EYFR - Tax - Accounting, Compliance & Reporting - Professionals

The opportunity

Our ACR tax service line operates as a team of highly experienced tax professionals focused on delivering efficient and effective resources to companies in the region. Our goal is to improve quality, manage risk, create efficiency, and drive value. Our market-leading approach combines standard and efficient processes, highly effective tools, and an extensive network of local tax and accounting professionals.

You will have the opportunity to provide clients with integrated, consistent, quality services that unlock the potential of the compliance function, including tax compliance, statutory accounts preparation, and tax accounting calculation support.

As part of a MENA team, you will be responsible for leading a team providing high-quality tax services to clients across various industries. You will also oversee service delivery, coordination, issue resolution, and contract management of large-scale projects, managing and coordinating the delivery of tax services by EY teams in the region.

Your key responsibilities

You will support client engagements by coordinating with clients and internal teams, managing deadlines, and tracking engagement economics. Your tasks include assisting clients with financial digital processes (preparation and interpretation of year-end closings, audit assistance, financial statements, etc.), tax compliance (corporate tax returns, VAT returns, etc.), general accounting, credit control, and internal optimization projects. You will also handle management reports, budgeting, analytical bookkeeping, financial health, and competitor analysis.

You will oversee daily client engagement requirements, monitor progress and deliverables, implement standardized processes, anticipate and identify risks, resolve or escalate issues, and drive performance improvements.

You will create, lead, and motivate high-performing teams, fostering a positive learning culture, coaching junior team members, managing engagement economics, and communicating significant issues, fees, and estimates to partners and clients. Ensuring adherence to Tax Quality guidelines will also be part of your role.

Skills and attributes for success

If you are an excellent communicator, detail-oriented, with a strong management background, comfortable working across borders with a broad network of colleagues and large data sets, you are ideal for this role.

To qualify for the role you must have

  • A bachelor's degree with strong academic credentials in accounting, business, finance, taxation, or related fields.
  • Advanced degrees or professional qualifications such as MBA, CA, CPA, ACCA, CTA, ADIT, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience, preferably within a large professional services firm or similar environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of Financial Reporting Standards, tax rules, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Practical experience with regulatory topics including Prudential Reporting, Structural Reform, new accounting and compliance innovations, and/or Business audit skills.

Ideally, you also have

  • Experience working with multinational clients and in multicultural environments.
  • Knowledge of tax compliance, financial reporting, and ERP systems like SAP.
  • Strong negotiation skills, market-winning ability, and resilience under challenging situations.
  • Good understanding and implementation skills of accounting concepts.
