Job summary

Cummins Inc. is seeking a Product Functional Test Mechanical Technician - Level II to prepare, build, install, and support test articles and laboratory equipment used in product validation and functional testing activities.

The role supports engine and component testing through test setup, instrumentation installation, troubleshooting, engine handling, and data collection while upholding safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience supporting product testing, engine testing, laboratory operations, or related technical environments.
• Strong knowledge of engine systems, components, and test cell operations.
• Experience with test stand setup, instrumentation installation, and troubleshooting activities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare test articles, fixtures, rigs, instrumentation, and associated equipment for testing activities.
• Install instrumentation and measurement devices in accordance with engineering standards and test requirements.
• Conduct and support product testing in accordance with approved test procedures, methodologies, and project plans.
• Monitor and document test execution to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
• Support engine, subsystem, and component functional testing activities.
• Conduct and monitor engine tests based on approved test plans and engineering requirements.
• Perform installation, removal, assembly, and disassembly of engines and related systems within test cells.
• Execute necessary modifications to engines and test setups to support testing objectives.
• Support continuous test cell operations, including shift-based and 24/7 testing activities when required.
• Maintain working knowledge of engine systems, test cell equipment, and laboratory operations.
• Perform preliminary troubleshooting of engine, instrumentation, test stand, and test cell-related issues.
• Support test stand setup, configuration, installation, and maintenance activities.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure operational readiness.
• Participate in preventive and predictive maintenance activities to improve equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
• Identify and resolve technical issues impacting test execution and data quality.
• Verify equipment calibration and instrumentation readiness before testing.
• Collect, validate, and document test data in accordance with established procedures.
• Prepare test reports, records, and documentation that clearly communicate testing methods, observations, and results.
• Support engineers and project teams by providing accurate and reliable test information.
• Ensure data integrity and adherence to quality requirements throughout the testing process.
