At Cloudways—our managed web hosting division, we’re revolutionizing the way businesses scale and grow, by offering powerful, easy-to-use cloud hosting for web applications. Now, we’re looking for a Director of PR, Communications & Social to join the Marketing team and help shape our brand perception in the market.
You will own and set the strategy for the public-facing brand image of Cloudways, aligning the communications strategy with our broader business goals by engaging audiences globally. We're looking for a seasoned professional to lead our communications, PR, and social media efforts, managing our brand reputation both internally and externally. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the tech industry, a strong track record of success in developing and executing communications strategies, and a passion for storytelling through thought leadership, product innovation stories, and customer testimonials.
Managing an in-house team, you will work with our agency partners to develop and implement the strategic communications plan, using owned and earned media channels to build awareness of Cloudways’s mission as a leading managed web hosting provider. You will shape public perception and build relationships with a cross-section of stakeholders (e.g. media, customers, WordPress ecosystem partners, employees, social media users, and developer communities), to align public-facing messaging to promote our organizational vision and company values.
What You'll Be Doing:- Develop and execute comprehensive communications strategies that align with the company's overall business objectives
- Create and maintain strong relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers to generate positive media coverage and secure interviews and feature stories
- Oversee the company's social media presence, including developing and implementing content strategies, managing community engagement, and monitoring analytics
- Work collaboratively with Customer Success and Support teams to escalate, research and resolve customer review site queries that affect Cloudways’ reputation
- Develop crisis communication plans and lead the organization's response during reputational crises or emergencies, providing timely and accurate information to internal and external stakeholders
- Support the writing and editing of press releases, blog posts, interview responses, and other communications materials when it’s required
- Monitor media coverage to evaluate the effectiveness of public relations campaigns and identify areas for improvement
- Collaborate with internal teams (marketing, customer success, executive leadership, etc.) to ensure consistent messaging is adopted across all communication channels.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, current events, and emerging issues that may impact the organization's reputation and recommend proactive strategies to address these
- Mentor and coach members of the team to support learning and skills development
What You’ll Bring to Cloudways:Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience in corporate communications, PR, and/or social media
- Strong understanding of the tech industry media landscape
- Proven track record of success in executing effective communications strategies
- Excellent verbal communication, writing, and editing skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with fine-tuned interpersonal skills
- Passion for storytelling, compelling narrative creation, and a commitment to excellence
- Degree educated or equivalent experience
