Job summary

Octdaily is seeking a mid-level Database Administrator in Karachi to manage production databases with 4+ years of hands-on experience in MS SQL Server, MySQL, and MongoDB. You will handle installation, configuration, backups, recovery, and high-availability setups in a production environment.

The role covers performance tuning, monitoring, incident RCA, and automation using T-SQL and PowerShell/Bash, with a focus on security, reliability, and documentation across development, UAT, and production

Qualifications

• 4+ years of hands-on Database Administration experience.
• Strong practical experience with MS SQL Server in production environments.
• Experience with Always On Availability Groups, HA/DR, and clustering concepts.
• Knowledge of backup, restore, and disaster-recovery strategies.
• Familiarity with security, encryption, auditing, and access management.
• Troubleshooting and performance-tuning skills including indexing and query optimization.
• Experience managing SQL Server Agent jobs, alerts, and maintenance plans.
• Ability to work independently in a production/support environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform database recovery, point-in-time recovery, and disaster-recovery activities.
• Monitor and troubleshoot database performance, blocking, deadlocks, connectivity, and resource issues.
• Perform query optimization, execution-plan analysis, indexing, and performance tuning.
• Manage SQL Server Agent jobs, alerts, maintenance plans, DB health checks, and scheduled tasks.
• Implement and maintain database security, TDE, encryption, auditing, and data masking.
• Support database deployments across Development, UAT, and Production environments.
• Perform database health checks, capacity monitoring, space management, and proactive maintenance.
• Troubleshoot production incidents and perform RCA.
• Develop and maintain DBA scripts for monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, and automation.
• Provide production support and participate in critical incident resolution.
• Perform basic administration, troubleshooting, backup/recovery, and performance monitoring for MySQL and MongoDB.
• Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and database standards.

The ideal candidate should be capable of independently managing production databases, troubleshooting complex database issues, and supporting high‑availability and disaster‑recovery environments.

• Working knowledge of MySQL and MongoDB administration.
• Ability to independently handle production incidents and perform RCA.
• Good scripting/automation skills using T‑SQL and PowerShell/Bash will be an advantage.
