Job summary

Jaffer Business Systems (JBS) in Pakistan is seeking a hands-on Data Engineer for a 3-month contract. The role centers on Snowflake, data pipelines, and full-stack/AI-ML oriented background, with onsite night shift 7PM-3AM.

We are looking for a hands-on Data Engineer with mandatory professional experience in Snowflake and 1–3 years of overall engineering experience. The ideal candidate may come from either a Full-Stack Development or AI/ML Engineering background and should have strong foundational knowledge of databases, data workflows, and programming.

The Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, optimizing, and maintaining scalable data workflows, pipelines, models, and architecture centered around Snowflake. The role will involve collaborating with engineering and product teams to ingest, transform, and serve data effectively, while ensuring query performance, cost efficiency, data quality, and reliability.

This is a hands-on contract role requiring the ability to quickly understand existing systems, contribute independently, and deliver solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibilities

• Strong foundational experience in either:
  • Full-Stack Development, with strong backend and database integration skills; or

• Experience designing and optimizing Snowflake tables, views, queries, and data pipelines.
• Understanding of Snowflake performance optimization and compute/storage cost management.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Familiarity with modern CI/CD practices and software development workflows.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
• 1–3 years of professional hands-on engineering experience.
• Proven professional experience working directly with Snowflake is mandatory.
• Practical experience developing and maintaining data workflows, pipelines, or data infrastructure.
• Strong experience with SQL and programming languages such as Python.
• Professional background in either Full-Stack Development or AI/ML Engineering.
• Experience with database integration, data pipelines, feature engineering, or model data workflows.
• Familiarity with at least one major cloud platform such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Exposure to CI/CD and modern software development practices.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot technical issues and deliver solutions independently.
• Experience working in a fast-paced engineering environment is preferred.
