Job summary

SMEC seeks a qualified Material Engineer for a Dam and Hydropower project in Swat, Pakistan. The role focuses on materials engineering, testing, QA/QC for large infrastructure works, requiring knowledge of concrete, aggregates, cement, and steel.

Strong liaison with engineers, contractors, and laboratories is essential. The successful candidate will have at least 10 years of relevant experience, preferably in dam or hydropower projects, and a background in construction materials, testing

Qualifications

• Experience in material testing, quality assurance, and quality control for large civil projects.
• Strong analytical, technical reporting, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee material sourcing, inspection, testing, and quality control for the project.
• Ensure construction materials meet project specs, standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct site inspections to assess material quality and suitability for construction activities.
• Coordinate material testing (strength, durability) with labs and stakeholders.
• Review and maintain documentation for material test results, certifications, and QC records.
• Liaise with engineers, contractors, suppliers, and labs to ensure timely availability and quality of materials.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety requirements in material handling and storage.
• Provide technical advice on suitability and performance of construction materials (concrete, aggregates, cement, steel).
• Support the project team in identifying and resolving material-related quality issues during construction.
