The role requires strong analytical and communication skills, the ability to work under pressure, and willingness to travel to branches as needed. MBA/CA preferred with extensive credit risk expertise.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 12 years in Credit Risk Management, corporate portfolio focus.
  • Preferably 3 years in Credit Risk Review function.
  • Corporate/Commercial relationship management experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assess adequacy, effectiveness and efficiency of Bank’s Credit Risk Management processes.
  • Review credit proposals for due diligence on borrowers’ character, track record and finances.
  • Ensure credit facilities are properly structured and compliant with policies.
  • Check adherence to regulatory requirements and risk appetite statements.
  • Report on risk ratings, classifications and portfolio quality.
  • Prepare audit reports within defined timelines and coordinate with regulators.
  • Liaise with risk, compliance and control functions to assess emerging risks.
  • Travel periodically to branches/subsidiaries as needed.

Job description

Excellent credit assessment and analytical skills. Understanding of credit products and knowledge of industry best practices. Proficient in computer skills/Power Point presentations

Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and detail oriented. Fully capable of working under pressure and meeting deadlines.

Experience:

Minimum 12 years in Credit Risk Management, primarily covering corporate portfolio, with preferably 3 years in the Credit Risk Review function. Experience of Corporate/Commercial relationship management will be an advantage.

Ke Key Responsibilities & Main Duties:
Duties:
  • Support the Head of Credit Risk Review in assessment of the following:
  • Adequacy, effectiveness and efficiency of Bank’s Credit Risk Management processes.
  • Quality of credit proposals with respect to due diligence related to borrowers’ character, management, track record, industry fundamentals, key risks and success factors, financial analysis (historical & projections were required), repayment capacity and problem recognition.
  • Credit facilities have been appropriately structured.
  • There is no violation of internal policies and regulatory requirements. If so, these have been identified and appropriately approved.
  • Quality of credit portfolio and processes. Recommend improvements where needed.
  • The macroeconomic situation and outlook.
  • The accuracy of risk ratings and classifications.
  • Finalize the audit reports within defined timelines.
  • Check compliance with various portfolio limits, risk acceptance criteria (RACs), risk appetite statements and limits, etc.
  • Participate in regular as well as special audits when requested by the regulator & senior management.
  • Track/follow up on remediation with respect to findings issued during internal, external and regulatory audits.
  • Liaise with risk, compliance, & associated control functions of the Bank where needed to assess the emerging risks impacting the Bank’s control environment along with the mitigation strategy.
  • Periodic travel to the countries of the branches/subsidiaries being reviewed.
  • Attain ‘general conformance’ rating in Credit Risk Review function.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with all stakeholders. Interact with senior management and be able to present and articulate findings and recommendations.
Education:
  • Qualified Chartered Accountant (Associate/ Fellow member) or;
  • Master’s of Business Administration
