Job summary

PARCO in Machike invites applications for a Contractual Chemist to lead testing of HSD, MOGAS and Transmix samples per MEPD specs. You will operate CFR Engine, AAS and FTIR, perform calibrations and preventive maintenance, and ensure timely results for product receipts and deliveries.

Role requires 12+ years in an oil testing lab, expertise in GLP, QMS and ISO/IEC 17025, and close coordination with S&T Operations and external stakeholders. Collaboration with SAP QM is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry from an HE C-approved University.
• Minimum 12 years of relevant Oil Testing Lab experience.
• Proficient in ASTM, UOP and IP test methods.
• Experience using SAP QM, GLP and QMS principles.

Responsibilities

• Test HSD, MOGAS and Transmix samples and issue reports per MEPD specs.
• Operate, troubleshoot and manage high-precision lab equipment.
• Coordinate with S&T Operations for timely testing of deliveries.
• Maintain equipment through preventive maintenance and calibration.
• Manage inventory of lab supplies in SAP.
• Coordinate vendor activities for equipment installation and repairs.
• Ensure compliance with latest lab methods and SOPs.
• Plan purchases and monitor budget and turnaround time.
• Coordinate with external stakeholders for testing/licensing services.
• Maintain records of precursor chemicals per ANF requirements.
• Communicate analytical results to relevant departments.
• Ensure calibrated equipment availability for testing.
• Record test results in SAP QM module promptly.
• Prepare REVEX budget proposals with management.
• Adhere to HSE, GLP and QMS standards and ISO/IEC 17025.

Career Opportunities: Chemist - (Contractual Role) (834)

• Test HSD, MOGAS and Transmix samples and issue Quality Test Reports in compliance with prevailing MEPD specifications.
• Hands-on expertise in operating, troubleshooting, and managing high-precision lab equipment, including Cooperative Fuel Research (CFR) Engine, Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS), FTIR spectrometers and automated flash point/viscosity analyzers.
• Liaise with S&T Operations to ensure smooth, well-timed testing for product receipts and deliveries.
• Maintain laboratory equipment in optimal working condition through preventive maintenance, calibration and verification.
• Manage inventory of laboratory supplies, consumables, chemicals and auxiliaries through PR/SR in SAP.
• Coordinate with vendors for equipment installation and malfunction rectification.
• Ensure compliance with the latest standard test methods and Lab SOPs, reviewing and updating them as required.
• Plan and coordinate laboratory purchases, ensuring REVEX and budget compliance, and test products within Turnaround Time (TAT).
• Coordinate with external stakeholders including HDIP, PNRA and PINSTECH for quality testing, licensing and dosimetry services.
• Maintain and update records of precursor chemicals as per ANF requirements.
• Generate and communicate analytical testing results to the concerned section/department.
• Ensure the timely availability of calibrated measuring equipment such as hydrometers, ASTM thermometers, stopwatches, transducers and gauges.
• Record and maintain test results in the SAP QM Module on a timely basis for seamless product supply.
• Prepare and monitor the REVEX budget and proposed CAPEX in consultation with Pipeline management.
• Comply with relevant HSE and Quality management procedures and guidelines at all times.
• Implement Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Quality Management Systems (QMS) while maintaining a solid, basic understanding of ISO/IEC 17025 standards

Qualification:

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry from an HEC-approved University.

Experience:

• Minimum 12 years of relevant experience in an Oil Testing Lab.

Job Specific Skills:

• Proficiency in ASTM, UOP & IP Test Methods,
• Hands-on expertise in operating advanced oil testing lab equipment and executing preventive maintenance protocols.
• Use of SAP QM Module for Lab Activities,
• Practical application of GLP, QMS and basic ISO/IEC 17025 principles.
• Expertise in implementing safety and handling protocols for hazardous petroleum products, toxic reagents, and volatile solvents in compliance with NFPA codes and safety protocols.
