Job summary

nsave is hiring a Backend Engineer to build and scale the infrastructure powering our financial services. You will work with the CTO and engineering teams to own backend subsystems, from architecture to security, serving tens of thousands of users across jurisdictions.

The role requires strong backend expertise, platform knowledge, and a security-minded, business-focused approach in a fast-moving fintech environment. This contractor position is based in Pakistan.

Qualifications

• Experience in backend engineering, platform engineering, or infrastructure roles.
• Proficiency in backend languages and frameworks relevant to scalable financial systems.
• Ability to operate independently and execute in fast-moving environments.
• Experience in startups, fintech, or regulated environments is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and own critical infrastructure — including service architecture, reliability, build and release, and integration with compliance and banking services.
• Proactively improve system health by identifying weak spots in the codebase and infrastructure, and prioritising fixes.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and operations teams to ship features across multiple markets.
• Contribute to engineering best practices, code quality, and process improvements as we scale.

About the Role

As our Backend Engineer, you will build and scale the infrastructure powering nsave's financial services. Working closely with the CTO and engineering team, you'll own critical backend subsystems — from service architecture and reliability to security and compliance integrations — serving tens of thousands of users across multiple jurisdictions.

• Strong engineering fundamentals: You build and optimise software systems with solid knowledge of clean architecture, layered abstractions, and complexity tradeoffs
• Broad platform knowledge: You're comfortable across backend architecture, databases, site reliability, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD
• Security-minded: You can design and manage robust financial systems with high security and compliance requirements
