Job summary

Suburban Cook County Online Application Consortium is seeking an Attendance Specialist to implement a data-driven attendance improvement program in partnership with school teams. You will monitor attendance, engage families, and coordinate interventions to reduce chronic absenteeism.

The role requires collaboration with administrators, teachers, counselors, and social workers, and the MTSS framework will guide targeted Tier 2 and Tier 3 supports for students in need.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with school-age children, families, and/or student support services.
• Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to establish effective relationships with students, families, school personnel, and community agencies.
• Ability to maintain accurate and confidential student records.
• Ability to analyze and use student attendance and other relevant data to guide interventions.
• Ability to work independently while functioning effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Monitor daily attendance and identify unexplained absences and chronic absenteeism.
• Communicate with students and families; conduct home visits when appropriate.
• Develop individualized attendance improvement plans and coordinate interventions.
• Collaborate with administrators, teachers, counselors, social workers, and community agencies.
• Utilize MTSS framework to match interventions to student need across Tier 2 and Tier 3.
• Maintain confidential records and prepare progress reports and grant-related documentation.
