Job summary

SMEC is seeking an Assistant Resident Engineer - Structure for a Roads and Highways project based in Kuchlak, Balochistan, Pakistan. The role focuses on reviewing structural designs for bridges and culverts, ensuring conformity to specifications, and maintaining project timelines.

Ideal candidates hold a Civil Engineering degree (Master’s preferred) with 12+ years of experience, including 8+ years in highway structures supervision.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required; Master’s in Structural Engineering is preferred.
• Minimum 12 years of overall professional experience, with at least 8 years supervising highways projects as Assistant Resident Engineer (Structure).
• Good knowledge of structural design standards and quality control procedures.
• Additional trainings/certifications will be an advantage.
• Strong communication and coordination skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Team Leader and review/approve structural designs for bridges, culverts and related works.
• Ensure construction aligns with approved specs, drawings and quality standards.
• Prepare, review and submit progress reports with proper documentation.
• Coordinate with stakeholders and authorities to ensure smooth execution of structural components.

• Perform duties under the guidance of the Team Leader.
• Assist the team in the review and approval of structural designs, particularly for bridges, culverts, and related works.
• Ensure that construction activities comply with approved specifications, drawings, and quality standards.
• Prepare, review, and submit progress reports while maintaining proper documentation.
• Coordinate with stakeholders and local authorities to ensure smooth project execution of structural components.
• Identify and resolve technical issues on-site related to structural works, providing practical solutions to maintain project timelines and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, preferably a Master’s in Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 12 years of overall professional experience, including at least 8 years of relevant experience supervising highways projects in the role of Assistant Resident Engineer (Structure).

• Additional relevant trainings/certifications will be an advantage.
