Job summary

PRG Pakistan in Gujranwala is hiring an Assistant Medical Coder for an entry-level position. The role focuses on accurate medical coding and documentation practices.

Qualifications

• MBBS freshers preferred.
• Ability to identify documentation gaps and ensure accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze patient medical records and documentation to assign appropriate medical codes (CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, DRG, APC, etc.).
• Translate healthcare diagnoses, procedures, medical services, and equipment into standardized coding for billing and recordkeeping.
• Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance of coded data with federal regulations and insurance requirements.
• Perform chart audits to identify documentation gaps, coding errors, or discrepancies.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff to clarify diagnoses and obtain additional documentation as needed.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines, payer rules, and regulatory changes (CMS, HIPAA, etc.).
