Overview
MBA preferably in Finance or LL.B from Higher Education Commission (HEC) recognized university, with at least 3 – years’ experience in filing sales tax return.
Responsibilities:
JOB SUMMARY
This purpose of this position is to assist in implementation of SSGC strategy to comply with sales tax laws while minimizing the incidence of liability fines, or refund delays related to SSGC. Prepares documents and supporting schedules for filing of federal and provincial sales tax related reports and returns in accordance with regulations.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in implementation of Organization’s ’s Sales Tax policies and objectives and ensure that Sales Tax Policies & Procedures are appropriately documented and properly implemented for timely and accurate filing of sales tax returns and notifications in compliance with laws and regulations.
- Implement the sales tax compliance profile of Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), ensuring that sales tax related returns and filing requirements are understood and documented and filings and payments are made on time.
- Perform all tasks necessary for timely deposit of withholding sales tax with the concerned authorities. Accurately prepare and submit for review by immediate supervisor before filing of federal and provincial sales tax returns and any refund claims on time and in accordance with applicable laws.

- Perform all tasks necessary for timely deposit of withholding sales tax with the concerned authorities. Accurately prepare and submit for review by immediate supervisor before filing of federal and provincial sales tax returns and any refund claims on time and in accordance with applicable laws.
- Review sales tax related transactions in strict adherence to procedures and guidelines to ensure that accounting books and records relating to sales tax are being properly maintained, according to sales tax laws and regulations.
- Follow the periodic sales tax reporting cycle for the company, assist in follow up with FBR, Collectorate and accounting teams to ensure that sales tax entries are being correctly documented, reconciled, posted, and are in line with relevant regulations.
- Implement the improvements to the sales tax reporting process at SSGC as advised by immediate supervisor.
- Every month, prepare and recheck Sales Tax return, ensuring all Annexures to Sales Tax return are correctly filed and Sales Tax Liability calculated by FBR Portal is identical with SSGC calculation.
- Regularly check GL reports and FBR purchase data and consolidated Input record of SSGC for last 6 months to help ensure that all Sales Tax invoices in GL (particularly invoices becoming time barred after 6 months) are timely claimed.
- Check whether Sales Tax invoices are claimable as per Law & as per prescribed format.
- In case of discrepancy, assist immediate supervisor to coordinate with concerned department for correction. Help in managing coordination with Vendors as and when required to ensure purchase invoices declared in Vendor returns are claimable by SSGC. Accurately reconcile data collected against software report and ensure completeness of invoices and Sales Tax amount & resolution pertaining to IRIS issues.
- Check withholding sales tax transactions to ensure accuracy of withholding sales tax deduction and processing Payment Voucher for deposit of Tax Liability into Government treasury.
- Check Sales Data to ensure that zero-rating, General Sales Tax, Extra Sales Tax and Further Sales Tax has been properly applied as per Law and Coordination with customer to accept Credit Adjustments declared by SSGC in Return.
- Assist in the coordination with sales tax consultants and advocates pertaining to sales tax cases under audit or litigation.
- Help arrange supporting documents for various sales tax cases pending at level of High Court, Collectorates, and sales tax offices.
- Assist in the coordination with sales tax authorities regarding tax exemptions, refunds, and rectification of arbitrary orders, including resolution of queries, attending multiple hearings, and arranging documents as and when required.
- Support in compilation and submission of customers’ data in Annexure – C of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) sales tax portal including RLNG, CNG, domestic and industrial consumers and including meter sales.
- Ensure Sales Tax invoice are uploaded on the FBR portal as per prescribed timeline following the month of payment/ purchases (in case of Gas purchases only).
- Assist in analysis of output sales tax data of gas sales and non-gas sales following the month of sale, ensuring serial numbering of output in categorically aligned so that no invoice is missed out.
- Prepare reconciliation of sales tax data with tax deposited to FBR on account of GST deductions.
- Prepare control output on monthly basis for Tax consultant to check accuracy of GST billed to customers against FBR portal.
- Prepare reports pertaining to Withholding sales tax, withholding Sindh sales tax, extra sales tax, further sales tax, Federal Excise Duty, Federal Sales Tax, and Sindh Sales Tax.
- The individual shall ensure compliance to the Enterprise Risk Management Framework enforced in the Company while performing job responsibilities in accordance with his assigned role.
- The individual shall ensure compliance to the Business Principles and Ethics Policy / Code of Conduct.
- Undertake any other task as assigned by the supervisor.
