Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for an Assistant Manager – Hospital Charge Master & Pricing at Shifa International Hospitals Limited in Islamabad. The Assistant Manager will be responsible for the overall management, accuracy and compliance of the hospital’s charge master and pricing structure. This role ensures that all clinical and ancillary services are accurately represented, appropriately priced, and regularly updated to support correct revenue capture and reimbursement. The position also acts as a key liaison between Billing, Panel Approvals, IT, and Finance teams.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and regularly update the hospital’s charge master across all panel organizations.
  • Ensure service charges are set and updated in accordance with panel agreements and internal policies.
  • Coordinate with Clinical and Finance teams to add new procedures, services, and supplies to the charge master.
  • Review and reconcile charge master entries; categorize outsourced and newly added services for each panel as per policy.
  • Mark and update non-admissible and non-allowed items specific to each panel organization.
  • Disseminate change notifications and pricing updates to relevant departments in a timely manner.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of charge master updates, pricing changes, and revision logs.
  • Monitor and update service pricing based on hospital policies, market benchmarks, and payer reimbursement trends.
  • Support annual rate revisions and participate in pricing audits.
  • Assist the Business Office and Billing teams in resolving price-related queries and discrepancies.
  • Conduct benchmarking studies and cost analyses to inform pricing decisions.
  • Analyze service category utilization and volume to support strategic pricing decisions.
  • Liaise with the IT department to implement pricing and service updates in HIS/EHR systems.
  • Guide departments on appropriate protocols for submitting requests related to new or modified charge items.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Finance, Medical Coding or a related field.
  • Minimum 6 years of proven experience in hospital billing, charge master or pricing coordination roles.
  • Strong knowledge of hospital tariffs, payer policies and cost estimation methodologies.
  • Familiarity with HMIS/EMR systems and hospital billing software.
  • Detail-oriented, with strong analytical, documentation, and cross-functional coordination skills.
