Job description

Principal Objective of Position:

Accountant II for our Pakistan office, reporting to the Senior Manager, Accounting. The role handles the day-to-day accounting for the office and the administrative matters that carry a financial impact — office supplies, equipment procurement and vendor dealings, assets, and building upkeep — and supports the accounting team on other group entities where required. It is a hands-on, individual-contributor role; approvals on spend and accounting treatment sit with the Senior Manager.

Key Functions of This Role:
  • Maintain the books for the Pakistan office: journal entries, accounts payable, general ledger, and month-end and year-end.
  • Process vendor invoices and staff expense claims, run payments, and manage petty cash and bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare the monthly reporting pack, including a month-on-month cost forecast and cash requirement.
  • Compile the data our external tax consultant needs for filings (withholding and sales tax schedules, invoices, vendor details) and coordinate with the tax and corporate consultants on queries, payments, and deadlines.
  • Handle routine banking and the standard documentation for the recurring monthly inward remittance.
  • Procure office equipment, furniture, and supplies: obtain and compare quotes, negotiate, place orders, and verify receipt against invoices.
  • Manage day-to-day vendor and service-provider dealings, rates, renewals, and invoice checks.
  • Monitor office supplies and stock levels and keep administrative spend under control.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register and depreciation schedules, manage asset issue and return, and carry out periodic physical verification.
  • Arrange repair and maintenance of the office and equipment as required, including contractors, utilities, bill verification, and landlord coordination.
  • Handle general office administration and filing, and support the accounting team on other group entities and audit requests as needed.
  • Act as the day-to-day point of contact for the external auditors on the Pakistan entity: prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation, respond to audit queries, and track open items through to closure.
  • Support the statutory audit of the Pakistan entity through to signed financial statements, and assist with group audit and interim review requests.
  • Maintain the statutory compliance calendar for the Pakistan entity — SECP annual and event- based filings, FBR withholding statements and sales tax returns, provincial sales tax, and EOBI / social security and work with the external consultants so filings and payments are made on time.
  • Keep accounting records and supporting files in line with company policy and applicable Pakistani requirements, including the Companies Act 2017 and IFRS as adopted in Pakistan.
  • Maintain documentation of key finance and procurement controls, and support remediation of audit and internal control findings identified for the office.
Education and Experience Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce; part-qualified ACCA / CA / ICMA an advantage.
  • 2-4 years of accounting experience, ideally with office administration exposure.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
  • Working knowledge of Pakistani withholding and sales tax as applied to vendor payments.
  • Exposure to the statutory audit of a Pakistani entity, including preparing audit schedules and handling auditor queries.
  • Familiarity with Companies Act 2017 / SECP and FBR filing requirements, and with statutory contributions such as EOBI and provident fund.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience with an accounting system
  • Organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage vendors and deadlines independently.
  • Fluent English and Urdu.
