The Workplace and Collaboration SME will be part of an agile product team responsible for the deployment and lifecycle management of laptops and desktops, both physical and virtual. This includes operating, updating, and maintaining end‑user PC platforms throughout their lifetime. The role also involves providing 3rd level support to assist other support functions and ensuring high‑quality service delivery. The team is responsible for software deployments, primarily through the Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM/SCCM) platform but not limited to it. The ideal candidate will bring a broad skill set with a specific focus on Virtual Desktops and applications, with experience in Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) or other client virtualization platforms.
Responsibilities
- Deploy, operate, and maintain physical and virtual desktop environments
- Administer client management platforms (e.g., MECM, Intune, Citrix, AVD)
- Monitor and remediate issues in virtual desktop environments
- Create and manage task sequences for OS deployment (OSD) using MECM
- Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts for automation and reporting
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies across all endpoints
- Provide 3rd level support and act as an escalation point for Level 1 and 2 support team
- Collaborate with architects and other SMEs to install, upgrade, and optimize infrastructure
- Initiate initiatives to improve infrastructure efficiency and user experience
- Maintain documentation, user guides, and technical references
- Mentor team members and contribute to prioritization and planning with the Product Owner
- Support workplace collaboration tools and ensure seamless integration
- Participate in transformation projects and cross‑functional collaboration
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in IT infrastructure or end‑user computing
- Experience deploying and managing Virtual Desktop Solutions (AVD, Citrix, VMware Horizon)
- Extensive proficiency in MECM/SCCM, Intune, Windows Operating Systems, Active Directory and Entra ID
- Advanced PowerShell scripting skills
- Familiarity with Agile ways of working
- Skilled at diagnosing and resolving technical issues
- Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to manage one's own workload and lead technical initiatives
- Relevant certifications (e.g., AZ‑140, Microsoft Endpoint Administrator, Citrix/VMware certifications)
- Clear and effective verbal and written communication
