Job summary

Microtop Philippines, Inc. in Laguna is seeking a Wirecut/EDM Operator to set up and operate Wire EDM machines for precision mold components. You will read drawings, select machining parameters, and ensure quality with dimensional checks.

Qualifications

• Graduate of Mechanical Technology, Tool and Die Technology, Machining Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related technical course.
• Experience operating Wirecut/Wire EDM machines is an advantage.
• Experience in Mold Fabrication, Tool and Die, or precision machining preferred.
• Knowledge of machine setup, wire threading, and basic machining parameters.
• Able to read engineering drawings and machining specifications.

Responsibilities

• Operate Wire EDM/Wirecut machines to produce mold components, inserts, electrodes, and other precision parts.
• Set up and prepare machines based on drawings, work instructions, and machining requirements.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and machining specifications.
• Perform machine setup including positioning, clamping, and wire threading.
• Monitor machining operations and adjust parameters to prevent damage.
• Inspect finished parts with appropriate measuring instruments for conformance.
• Record production and inspection data; assist in preventive maintenance.

JOB SUMMARY

The Wirecut/EDM Operator is responsible for operating and setting up Wire EDM machines to produce precision mold components and parts according to approved drawings, specifications, dimensions, and tolerances. The position ensures accurate machining, proper machine operation, and compliance with established quality and safety standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operate Wire EDM/Wirecut machines to produce mold components, inserts, electrodes, and other precision parts.

• Set up and prepare machines based on approved drawings, work instructions, and machining requirements.

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and machining specifications.

• Perform proper workpiece positioning, clamping, wire threading, and machine setup.

• Select appropriate machining parameters based on material, thickness, required accuracy, and job specifications.

• Monitor machining operations to ensure proper cutting performance and prevent machine or workpiece damage.

• Conduct dimensional and visual inspection of finished parts using appropriate measuring instruments.

• Ensure machined parts meet required dimensions, tolerances, surface finish, and quality standards.

• Perform basic machine troubleshooting and report machine abnormalities or technical problems to the immediate supervisor.

• Maintain cleanliness, proper condition, and safe operation of Wire EDM machines and work areas.

• Monitor consumables such as wire, filters, dielectric fluid, and other machine supplies.

• Follow established machining procedures, work instructions, quality standards, and safety requirements.

• Coordinate with Mold Designers, CNC Machinists, Toolmakers, QA, and other concerned personnel regarding machining requirements and issues.

• Record production, inspection, and machine-related information as required.

• Assist in preventive maintenance and routine care of Wire EDM equipment.

• Perform other related duties and responsibilities assigned by the immediate supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Graduate of Mechanical Technology, Tool and Die Technology, Machining Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related technical course.

• With experience operating Wirecut/Wire EDM machines is an advantage.

• Experience in Mold Fabrication, Tool and Die, or precision machining is preferred.

• Knowledge of machine setup, wire threading, workpiece positioning, and basic machining parameters.

• Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and machining specifications.

• Knowledge of measuring instruments such as Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Height Gauge, and other precision measuring tools.

• Basic knowledge of CNC/EDM operations is an advantage.

• Detail-oriented and able to work with tight tolerances.

• Willing to work in a manufacturing environment.

• Willing to work on shifting schedules, if required.

• Fresh graduates or candidates with relevant technical training may be considered.
