The successful candidate will review medical charts, assign codes for diagnoses and procedures, collaborate with clinicians, and support quality audits to ensure accuracy and regulatory alignment. The position offers a remote setup within the Philippines.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of inpatient coding experience.
• Proficiency with ICD-10-CM, CPT and HCPCS coding.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in coding.
• Effective communication with clinicians for documentation clarification.
• Knowledge of CMS guidelines and Joint Commission standards.

These codes are essential for billing, insurance claims, and maintaining healthcare data integrity.

Key Responsibilities

• Reviewing Medical Records: Inpatient Coders analyze patients’ charts and medical records to gather relevant information regarding diagnoses, procedures, and treatments.
• Assigning Codes: They utilize coding systems such as ICD-10-CM (for diagnoses) and CPT/HCPCS (for procedures) to assign accurate codes to services provided during a patient’s hospital stay.
• Ensuring Compliance: Inpatient Coders ensure that coding practices adhere to legal and regulatory standards, including guidelines from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and The Joint Commission.
• Communicating with Healthcare Professionals: They often collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare personnel to clarify information and receive additional documentation if needed.
• Auditing and Quality Control: Some Inpatient Coders may be involved in auditing the coding for quality assurance, ensuring that the codes reflect the documentation accurately and are compliant with policies.
