FABRICATOR/WELDER
Job Purpose:
The Fabricator/Welder is responsible for the fabrication, maintenance, and repair of metal structures and equipment in the facility. This role ensures that all machinery, tools, and systems are functioning optimally through effective welding, fabrication, and preventive maintenance.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform welding operations on various materials such as steel, aluminum, and stainless steel.
- Use appropriate cutting, grinding, and welding tools to meet precise fabrication needs.
- Fabricate, assemble, and install metal parts, structures, and components in line with engineering specifications and safety standards.
- Inspect and troubleshoot metal components, machinery, and equipment for defects, wear, and potential failure points.
- Design and fabricate custom metal parts or structures when standard components are unavailable or unsuitable.
- Assist in the modification and upgrading of equipment and structures as directed.
- Inspect and test welded joints and fabricated parts for quality and integrity.
- Perform preventive maintenance on welding equipment and tools.
- Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning equipment and machinery.
- Assist in the installation and maintenance of facility equipment
- Adhere to all safety protocols and standards while working with hazardous materials, welding equipment, and heavy machinery.
- Work closely with other maintenance staff to coordinate fabrication needs and ensure timely completion of repairs and projects.
- Performs other duties as maybe assigned from time to time.
Required Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
Experience
- >3 years of proven experience as fabricator or welder
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of welding techniques, metal fabrication, and machining.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and welding schematics.
- Proficiency in using welding machines, cutting tools, and metalworking equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Time Management skills
- Knowledge of safety practices related to welding, fabrication, and equipment maintenance.
- Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks efficiently.
