Role Overview
Reporting to the Visual Manager and aligned with Corporate Visual guidelines, the Visual Supervisor creates an engaging, trend‑driven shopping environment that supports full‑price merchandise sales and overall store profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate with a strong sense of urgency and efficiency, consistently meeting deadlines in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
- Collaborate with the Visual Manager, Senior Leadership Team and Corporate Visual Department to interpret and tailor corporate visual directives for the store.
- Lead visual innovation by introducing seasonal updates, working with the Assistant General Merchandise Manager and department managers for alignment on floor plans, signage, and scheduling.
- Design and prepare visual collateral that supports brand storytelling and promotional initiatives; submit photo documentation for corporate‑directed setups.
- Compile and distribute meeting notes to keep cross‑functional teams aligned on visual priorities.
- Assist in managing the visual merchandising budget, making fiscally responsible decisions.
- Ensure all assigned areas align with Corporate Visual standards through strategic merchandise placement and presentation.
- Train and coach Sales Support Team members and Sales Associates on best practices for product presentation and visual floor standards.
- Lead and support merchandise shop setups, seasonal installations, and floor moves, ensuring timely execution.
- Create an exciting visual environment that attracts customers, encourages shopper interest, and drives sales.
- Monitor store environment and relay concerns to the team for resolution.
- Assist with planning, coordination, execution, and recovery of corporate and local events, both in‑store and at off‑site locations.
- Role‑model the Saks Fifth Avenue customer experience and mentor visual team members to enhance styling skills and brand understanding.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of visual merchandising experience in a high‑volume, multi‑level department store; portfolio of completed installations required.
- Professional carpentry and visual merchandising tool skills for safe and efficient installation.
- Proficiency in painting techniques and seasonal set‑up aesthetics.
- Strong background in fashion styling, current fashion, design, and art trends.
- Floral arrangement skills and knowledge of flower varieties appreciated.
- Experienced in signage installation with focus on placement, scale, and visual accuracy.
- Solid understanding of materials, production techniques, and fabrication methods for visual displays.
- Design fundamentals knowledge, including composition, color theory, and lighting application.
- Technological proficiency: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to articulate visual concepts and collaborate across teams.
- Quick learner, self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, thriving in fast‑paced, team‑oriented environments.
- Preference for a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Merchandising, Design, or a related field.
