Job summary

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily health inspections and monitor the health, behavior, and physical condition of swine.
• Identify, diagnose, treat, and manage sick pigs.
• Prescribe appropriate medications and develop treatment programs for various swine diseases.
• Perform routine, emergency, and post-mortem examinations to determine causes of illness or death.
• Collect and submit blood, fecal, tissue, and other samples for laboratory testing and disease investigation.
• Monitor disease trends, outbreaks, mortality rates, and morbidity rates within the herd.
• Implement and supervise vaccination programs, deworming, biosecurity, and other preventive health measures.
• Ensure proper feeding, adequate water supply, suitable housing, sanitation, and overall animal care.
• Promote and enforce animal welfare standards and humane handling practices.
• Maintain accurate health records, including treatments, vaccinations, disease cases, and mortality.
• Provide recommendations to improve herd health, reproductive performance, growth, and overall productivity.
• Educate farm workers on proper animal handling, disease prevention, sanitation, and biosecurity procedures.
