About Aureus
Aureus is a music education company teaching children across more than 33 centres in Singapore and the UAE. Almost everything that makes that work — scheduling lessons, enrolling students, billing families, allocating teachers, tracking progress — runs on software our own in-house team designs and builds. We don't buy it off the shelf and we don't outsource it.
The Role
We are looking for a UX/UI Designer to join our UX/UI team and work across our entire product ecosystem: the mobile apps our customers use, the apps our teachers and staff use every day, and the internal CRM platform that everything sits on, and other projects.
You will work directly with our in-house development team and report to the Chief Technology Officer and Head of Engineering. There is no agency layer and no outsourced design so you will be part of our design function, with the scope and ownership that implies. Your work is used daily by thousands of families and by every member of staff in every centre.
What You Will Design
- Our internal CRM and operations platform. Our own proprietary system: student and family records, lesson scheduling across every centre, enrolments, billing and invoicing, teacher allocation, enquiries and leads, and reporting. This is the largest and most complex surface — dense, permission-driven, and used for eight hours a day by people who know it inside out.
- The mobile app for parents. Where families manage their child's lessons: schedules, rescheduling, progress updates from their teacher, payments and invoices, and communication with their centre. Consumer-grade expectations apply.
- The mobile app for employees. Schedules and shifts, the day's students, attendance, tasks and internal announcements — designed for teachers and centre staff who are moving between rooms, not sitting at a desk.
- The in-studio app for teachers. Lesson content, progress and our interactive teaching tools. The guiding constraint is that the teacher's attention belongs to the student.
- The sign-up and enrolment flow. The first thing a new family touches: choosing a centre and instrument, booking a trial lesson and signing up. Short, trustworthy, mobile-first and directly measurable.
- Our design system. We run a two-layer structure in Figma — a core design system plus a context library for each product. You will own it, grow it, and keep it aligned with what has actually shipped.
Responsibilities
- Understand the business logic before you design. Join requirements discussions from the start, learn how our scheduling, enrolment and billing rules actually work, and ask the difficult questions early.
- Take features from discovery through to launch: user flows, information architecture, wireframes, high-fidelity UI and interactive prototypes.
- Design every state, not just the happy path — empty, loading, error, no-permission, offline, and interfaces holding two hundred rows of data.
- Write clear design specifications that a developer can build from without needing a meeting.
- Work alongside the development team through the build, review what ships against what you designed, and flag anything that isn't right.
- Visit our centres. Watch managers take enquiry calls and teachers run lessons, and design from what you observe.
- Test designs with real staff and customers before development begins.
- Own and maintain the design system and uphold accessibility and multi-region standards across all products.
Requirements
- Approximately 2-4 years of experience designing software products, with live work you can point to.
- Both mobile and web work in your portfolio, with the judgement to treat a consumer app and a data-heavy internal tool differently.
- At least one complex, logic-heavy product you have shipped.
- Deep Figma fluency: components and variants, variables and tokens, auto-layout, prototyping, and managing a shared library that others depend on.
- Strong command of iOS and Android design conventions, and the judgement to know when to follow the platform and when not to.
- Experience utilizing AI tools in your workflow
- The ability to explain your decisions — the data behind a screen, the edge cases you designed for, and the first version that was wrong.
- Comfort working directly and daily with developers, support, and QA teams
- Clear written English, good enough to write a specification that stands on its own.
- Based in Singapore, or able to relocate, with the right to work here.
Nice to Have
- Experience designing for apps built in Flutter, and a sense of what is cheap or expensive to build in it.
- Experience in education, healthcare, retail or another business with many physical locations.
Salary: 4k to 5k SGD. If your best work is under a non-disclosure agreement, let us know and we will find a way to discuss it.
