Jobbeschreibung

Are you a technically strong accountant who thrives on taking ownership, solving complex financial challenges, and making financial information clear and meaningful for clients?

We’re looking for someone who is hungry, smart, and humble - someone who takes pride in their work, thinks clearly through ambiguity, and doesn’t need to be micromanaged.

If you’re a fast learner who adapts quickly to new business models and tools, communicates with confidence, and would rather make financial information simple and useful than technically impressive and confusing, this opportunity could be the perfect fit for you!

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?

  • Competitive compensation package tailored to your experience and expertise;

  • Secure a full-time employee position under an Employer of Record (EOR) arrangement, with Philippine statutory government benefits, 13th month pay, vacation and sick leave, and paid holidays;

  • Enjoy an HMO benefit to support your healthcare needs as an employee;

  • Flexible schedule with a core overlap of at least 3 to 4 hours with the US Eastern Time zone, starting at 3PM PH time, with the potential for greater flexibility as you become more independent in the role;

  • Embrace the convenience of remote work and operate from the comfort of your home;

  • Take ownership of a portfolio of client accounts while working closely with an experienced team;

  • Gain exposure to a variety of e-commerce, CPG, wholesale, and service-based businesses;

  • Learn and grow with opportunities to develop your skills in financial reporting, cash flow forecasting, sales tax, AI-powered reporting, and more;

  • Unlock a clear career path with opportunities to grow into Team Lead, Controller-level, or other leadership and operational roles as the company continues to expand;

  • Join a small, collaborative, and relationship-driven team that values ownership, continuous learning, and internal growth;

  • Work with a company that takes accuracy seriously but also values curiosity, humility, initiative, and finding practical solutions!

CLIENT BACKGROUND

Our client is a growing financial services firm that helps consumer and e-commerce brands gain greater financial clarity and confidence in making business decisions. They primarily work with businesses generating between $3M and $40M in revenue, supporting them with accurate accounting, meaningful reporting, and financial insights that help business owners understand what is happening in their business.

Their clients include DTC, B2B wholesale, e-commerce, CPG, and service-based businesses. Rather than simply delivering financial reports, the team focuses on organizing financial information in a way that is clear, practical, and easy for decision-makers to understand and act on.

As a growing and close-knit team, they value people who can take ownership of their work, think independently, communicate proactively, and build strong relationships with clients. They are also committed to developing their people internally, with future opportunities to grow into Team Lead, Controller, and other leadership or operational roles.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the end-to-end accounting process for a portfolio of approximately 3 to 4 client accounts.

  • Perform full-cycle accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close.

  • Maintain accurate and well-organized financial records using full-accrual accounting.

  • Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring financial information is accurate, clear, and useful for decision-making.

  • Organize and maintain charts of accounts, including clear revenue and COGS categorization.

  • Handle inventory accounting and understand the relationship between inventory and COGS, including FIFO and weighted-average inventory methods.

  • Monitor and track key financial metrics and business activities to help assess the financial health of each client.

  • Support and maintain 13-week cash flow forecasts using established templates and processes, while working with clients to gather relevant sales and operational information.

  • Process and record payroll-related transactions and maintain awareness of payroll activities across platforms such as ADP and Gusto.

  • Assist with sales tax-related tasks, with training and support provided as needed.

  • Prepare and support 1099 reporting and filing requirements.

  • Drive the majority of the monthly close process, with support from the Controller for review, quality control, and additional financial insight.

  • Communicate directly with clients primarily through email and chat, with occasional calls as needed.

  • Present and explain financial information in a simple, clear, and practical way rather than simply providing large spreadsheets or complex reports.

  • Collaborate with Controllers, Client Services, and other team members to ensure client needs, deliverables, and deadlines are met.

  • Learn and adapt to new systems, tools, and client platforms, including AI tools such as Claude for reporting and financial analysis.

  • Handle other accounting-related tasks as needed to support clients and the team.

TECH STACK

  • Common Client Platforms: A2X, Shopify, Amazon, Faire, Fishbowl, ShipStation, Bill.com, ADP & Gusto, Stripe & PayPal, Numeral

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred, with 4–5 years of US accounting experience, ideally gained from a US accounting firm.

  • Strong understanding of GAAP and full-accrual accounting, with hands-on experience in end-to-end accounting, including AP, AR, reconciliations, month-end close, and financial statement preparation.

  • QuickBooks Online experience is required, with familiarity with Xero, Double, and A2X considered a plus. Experience with ADP and Gusto is also an advantage.

  • Inventory accounting experience is highly preferred, with a solid understanding of inventory-to-COGS treatment and FIFO and weighted-average inventory methods (Training materials and Controller-level support will be provided to help you become familiar with the company’s processes)

  • Experience supporting e-commerce, CPG, wholesale/distribution, retail, manufacturing, or other inventory-based businesses is a strong advantage.

  • Experience with cash flow forecasting is a plus; willingness to learn sales tax processes and new accounting tools is important.

  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to communicate confidently with clients through email, chat, and occasional calls.

  • Highly detail-oriented, analytical, and solutions-focused, with the ability to learn quickly, adapt to new technologies, and use tools such as AI for accounting and financial reporting.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Reliable, stable, and high-speed internet.

  • A dedicated, private workspace that is free from distractions, ensuring confidentiality and optimal focus on tasks.

  • Availability to maintain at least a 3 hour overlap with the US Eastern Time zone, approximately 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM ET, for meetings, communication, questions, and handoffs.

  • Willingness to provide additional overlap during the initial months of employment as needed while learning the role and client accounts.

DESCRIPTION OF IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Adaptable & Quick to Learn: You are comfortable stepping into new client environments, learning different business models, and picking up new systems and tools. You’re curious, flexible, and able to quickly understand how different businesses operate and how that translates into their financials.

  • Accurate & Detail-Oriented: You have a strong eye for detail and take pride in producing financials that are accurate, complete, and reliable. You understand that even small discrepancies can impact important business decisions.

  • Client-Focused & Empathetic: You understand that clients are busy and may not always speak “accounting.” You approach client interactions with patience and empathy while making financial information simple, clear, and useful.

  • Independent & Accountable: You take ownership of your work and can manage your responsibilities without being micromanaged. You proactively communicate updates, follow through on commitments, and know when to seek support.

  • Mature & Self-Aware: You communicate with professionalism and understand the importance of maintaining a strong communication cadence. You are receptive to feedback, aware of your strengths and areas for improvement, and confident while remaining humble and open to learning.

  • Solutions-Focused: You don’t simply bring problems to the table. You take the time to understand the issue, think through possible solutions, and come prepared with recommendations when asking for support.

  • Strong Communicator: You communicate clearly, consistently, and professionally with both clients and teammates. You can simplify complex financial information and explain it in a way that business owners can easily understand and act on.

  • Team-Oriented: While you can work independently, you also understand the value of collaboration. You support your teammates, communicate proactively, and contribute to a positive and productive team environment.
