CLIENT BACKGROUND
Our client is a US-based company specializing in top-notch bookkeeping, accounts payable, and fractional CFO services. They have unwavering dedication to serving unique clientele - churches! Their noble mission is to advance the kingdom with a deep commitment to aligning financial expertise with higher purpose.
They help pastors elevate their church’s financial health for greater ministry impact by providing faithful stewardship and expert financial management.
ROLE OVERVIEW
The role is someone who can look beyond individual transactions to understand how an organization’s financial systems work, diagnose what is not working, and build a better solution. This role combines sound accounting judgment with strong problem-solving skills, an ability to learn unfamiliar software, and a practical approach to systems design.
This role owns the technical work, accuracy, and completion of our Ministry First Financial Blueprint and Quick Start services, as well as assigned one-time accounting projects. Other members of the Operations team will lead client discovery and manage Blueprint and Quick Start project coordination, packaging, and delivery. The Engineer owns the technical content and implementation work.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Ministry First Financial Blueprint
- Assess financial statements, account structures, reconciliations, fund activity, and workflows to identify material issues and reporting limitations.
- Prepare the Financial Review & Action Plan, distinguishing required from optional cleanup and estimating the work involved.
- Architect the chart of accounts, classes, and financial structure around the way each church or nonprofit operates; prepare supporting account mapping and implementation guidance.
- Design and draft financial policies, operational processes, and technical content for client-facing process plans and implementation road maps.
- Implement approved chart of accounts changes, and design, build, and validate customized financial reporting packages.
- Self-review deliverables for technical accuracy, completeness, and readiness for Operations to package and present.
One-Time Accounting Projects
- Own the planning, technical execution, and completion of assigned cleanup, restructuring, financial systems improvement, and migration projects.
- Scope work, perform approved reconciliations and corrections, troubleshoot implementation issues, and verify the accuracy of the finished work.
- Coordinate progress, dependencies, and issues with internal team members while maintaining ownership of technical results.
Quick Start Implementation
- Set up QuickBooks Online, the chart of accounts, payroll, and the initial financial environment for new churches and organizations.
- Implement New Axis accounting processes and reporting; test and validate the setup so the client is ready for ongoing operations.
Additional Accounting Operations Support
As project volume allows, this position will also process assigned client payroll alongside our payroll specialist and support accounts payable processing and bill payments, following established schedules, approvals, and controls. These additional duties are not core responsibilities of the Accounting Engineer seat but temporary tasks to assist with capacity of a growing company.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
The right person delivers accurate, complete, and practical accounting solutions on schedule. They take ownership from diagnosis through technical completion, navigate unfamiliar systems without getting stuck, and create financial structures and reports that church leaders can trust and use. They balance initiative with collaboration and continually improve how the work gets done.
QUALIFICATIONS
