CLIENT BACKGROUND
Our client-partner is a U.S.-based accounting and advisory firm that specializes in helping small businesses build clarity and confidence in their financial direction. Rather than focusing solely on compliance, they craft tailored financial roadmaps, designed to meet each client where they are, clarify where they want to go, and chart a strategic path forward.
This is a rare opportunity to work closely with a lean, values-driven team that prioritizes outcomes, ownership, and continuous learning. You won’t just be executing tasks, you’ll be invited to think critically, contribute ideas, and help shape how the firm delivers value. If you're someone who cares deeply about both precision and progress, this is a role where your work will truly matter.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Own the month-end close by preparing journal entries, completing balance sheet and account reconciliations, and reviewing financials for accuracy and consistency
- Support client onboarding and system setup in QuickBooks Online and Karbon, helping ensure clean data, organized workflows, and a smooth transition into ongoing services
- Prepare clear, accrual-based financial statements that align with each client’s business model and support informed decision-making, not just compliance
- Collaborate closely with internal team members and communicate directly with clients as needed via email or occasional calls to clarify items and move work forward
- Analyze financial trends and identify issues early, flagging discrepancies and contributing ideas to improve processes and workflows
- Provide thoughtful accounting insights that support broader tax planning and strategic discussions across the firm
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5–8+ years of U.S. accounting experience (ideally across industries like construction, eCommerce, SaaS, and trades)
- Deep understanding of US GAAP and accrual-based accounting practices
- Clear, professional written and verbal English and confidence in email communication with clients
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to take ownership of tasks with minimal supervision
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, evolving environments
- Open to feedback and committed to continuous improvement
- Familiarity with remote tools (Karbon, Google Workspace, Slack, etc.) is a strong plus
Nice to have:
- Experience in leadership or team mentorship
- Prior exposure to building or optimizing accounting systems
- Familiarity with the tech stack (e.g., Shopify, Square, Stripe, LastPass) is helpful but not required
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Quiet, professional home office setup and strong internet
