About the role
The role will support and manage insolvency and restructuring matters from appointment through to completion, with responsibility for technical analysis, investigations, statutory reporting, stakeholder communication, and the day-to-day progression of files. The successful candidate should be capable of working independently, identifying the next steps required on a matter, and producing work that requires review rather than rework.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day progression of insolvency and restructuring engagements, including liquidations, voluntary administrations, deeds of company arrangement, small business restructurings, and other corporate recovery matters.
- Review financial statements, general ledgers, bank accounts, and accounting records, and prepare cash flow, solvency, deficiency, and other financial analyses.
- Undertake investigations into insolvent trading, unfair preferences, uncommercial or director-related transactions, and other potential recoveries.
- Prepare high-quality first drafts of reports to creditors, ASIC reports, investigation memoranda, statutory correspondence, and supporting workpapers.
- Assist with asset realisations, debtor recoveries, proofs of debt, creditor adjudications, employee entitlements, and distributions.
- Communicate directly and professionally with directors, creditors, lawyers, accountants, employees, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Maintain complete files, workpapers, and file notes; monitor statutory deadlines; and proactively progress matters.
- Identify technical or commercial issues, make recommendations, and escape material matters to the Director.
- Provide guidance to junior team members where required.
About you

- Strong accounting, financial analysis, and investigative skills.
- Experience preparing professional reports and technical workpapers.
- Strong written and spoken English, with confidence communicating with senior professionals and external stakeholders.
- Advanced Excel skills and the ability to independently manage multiple files and deadlines.
- Previous experience working with an Australian insolvency, restructuring, or accounting practice will be highly regarded.
- Experience with Australian insolvency matters is strongly preferred, including exposure to Australian corporate insolvency procedures and the Corporations Act 2001, liquidations, voluntary administrations, and small business restructurings, ASIC and creditor reporting requirements, insolvent trading, unfair preferences, and voidable transaction investigations, and PPSR/PPSA concepts, employee entitlements, and Australian insolvency workpapers.
