Job summary

SMEC (An SJ Group Company) is seeking a Civil Inspector – Upper Basin for on-site inspection of dam and hydropower project components, including reservoirs, intakes, canals, and slopes. You will ensure safety, quality, and compliance with designs, specs, and standards while coordinating with resident engineers and contractors.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree and 7–10 years in hydropower or water resources, with 3–5 years in construction phase inspection.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, or a related discipline.
7–10 years of relevant experience in hydropower, dam, or water resources projects.
At least 3–5 years of direct experience in the construction phase, responsible for inspection of upper basin structures.

Responsibilities

Implement project-specific HSE plans for upper basin construction works.
Identify hazards related to earthworks, slopes, water bodies, blasting, and heavy equipment.
Review and ensure implementation of RAMS (risk assessments and method statements).
Coordinate with HSE officers and contractors on site-specific safety controls.
Inspect upper basin works including intakes, canals, tunnels/portals, access roads, and slope protection.
Verify compliance with approved drawings, technical specifications, and standards.
Record safety observations, NCRs, and corrective actions.
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly inspection and site reports.
