Job summary

UNITED OVERSEAS INSURANCE LTD (UOI) is seeking an Underwriting Assistant in the Commercial Distribution Division to support revenue growth and customer satisfaction by assisting underwriters, evaluating risks, and handling renewals and inquiries.

You will convert hard copies to e-policies, prepare insurance summaries, issue cover notes and certificates, and contribute to monthly business reports while delivering service excellence and collaborating with colleagues and clients.

Qualifications

• Diploma in any discipline is required.
• Certificate in General Insurance is required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Good problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to put customers at the core of the business and work well in a team.
• Knowledge of Mandarin is preferred to service Mandarin-speaking clients.

Responsibilities

• Assist underwriters in evaluating, underwriting and quoting risks for commercial classes.
• Prepare insurance summaries and renewal invites; pursue renewable business.
• Attend to client inquiries; liaise with customer call center as needed.
• Ensure premiums are collected within premium warranty framework and policies are issued timely.
• Convert hard copies to electronic policies and support documentation.
• Prepare monthly business reports and assist with underwriting analytics and follow-up tasks.
• Undertake additional assignments by Division Head, STO and CEO to support objectives.

Job description

The Commercial Distribution Division is responsible for the growth of commercial businesses across multiple channels including Bancassurance, Intermediaries, Direct channels and Partnerships. It is also responsible for providing holistic, bespoke insurance solutions for its commercial customers,delivering service excellence and increasing market awareness of UOI to achieve customers' trust and recognition.

Job Purpose

As an Underwriting Assistant in the Commercial Distribution Division, you will be responsible for supporting exceptional service to support revenue growth and to achieve customer satisfaction. This includes servicing support to grow new customers, to retain existing customers and to drive transformation process in line with the Company's objectives.

Main Responsibilities

• Assist underwriters in evaluating, underwriting and quoting risks for commercial classes in line with Company's underwriting guidelines and treaty programme, including placing facultative reinsurance and ensuring contract certainty documentation is fulfilled.
• Prepare insurance summaries, renewal invite and actively pursue renewable business to achieve high persistency targets.
• Service commercial clients and attend to their enquiries promptly to ensure customers satisfaction, including responding to queries referred by UOI's customer call center.
• Ensure premiums are collected within premium warranty framework and that policies are sent out to customer within a stipulated time frame.
• Facilitate transformation by converting hard copies policies to e-policies.
• Perform additional support duties, such as presenting to clients, send relevant follow up documentation ie proposal forms etc, perform claims and underwriting analytics, issue cover notes, cover letters, certificates of insurance, instructions for issuance of policies and prepare monthly business reports.
• Undertake any other assignments as allocated by the Division Head, STO and the CEO to contribute to the overall corporate objectives.
