Overview

Under the general supervision of the Transport & Vehicle Maintenance Manager, the Section Manager is responsible for overseeing the efficient operation, maintenance, and management of all vehicles and transport equipment used in the feedmill plant and piggery farm. This includes delivery trucks for feeds and live hogs, light service vehicles, and heavy equipment for farm operations. The Section Manager ensures that all vehicles are maintained in excellent working condition, schedules and coordinates transportation services, and manages a team of drivers and maintenance staff to ensure timely and safe transport operations.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and lead a team of drivers, mechanics, and maintenance staff.
• Assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide training and development opportunities.
• Conduct regular team meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and safety protocols.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all vehicles and equipment.
• Oversee routine inspections, servicing, and repairs to ensure all vehicles are in safe and operational condition.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts replacements.
• Schedule and coordinate the delivery of feeds, live hogs, and other farm products to ensure timely and efficient transport operations.
• Monitor and track the movement of vehicles to ensure optimal route planning and fuel efficiency.
• Resolve any transport-related issues or delays promptly to minimize disruption to operations.
• Ensure all transportation activities comply with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
• Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
• Promote a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement among the transport team.
• Prepare and manage the transportation and vehicle maintenance budget, including expenses for fuel, repairs, and parts.
• Identify cost‑saving opportunities and implement measures to optimize resource utilization.
• Monitor expenditures and ensure compliance with budgetary constraints.
• Maintain accurate records of vehicle and equipment inventory.
• Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure the timely availability of necessary parts and supplies.
• Implement inventory control measures to prevent shortages and reduce waste.
• Maintain detailed records of transport activities, maintenance logs, and equipment performance.
• Prepare reports on transportation operations, including delivery schedules, maintenance activities, and safety inspections.
• Provide regular updates to the Operations Manager on the status of transport and maintenance activities.
• Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in transportation and vehicle maintenance.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
• Foster a culture of continuous learning and development within the transport team.
• Ensure excellent customer service by coordinating with clients, suppliers, and internal departments to meet delivery schedules and address any concerns.
• Respond to and resolve customer complaints regarding transport services in a timely and professional manner.
• Performs other functions which may be assigned by the immediate superior from time to time.
