Job summary

Meralco Industrial Engineering Services Corporation seeks a Transmission Line Design Engineer to optimize line design for reliability, operability, and safety. You will develop standards, support QA, and work on overhead and underground projects with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree required in electrical engineering with licensure.

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME for electrical distribution and transmission line activities on overhead and underground.
• Determine capacity, system voltage, conductor, OHGW/OPGW, and insulator selections.
• Provide specifications for insulators, conductors, shield wires, and line accessories.
• Carry out engineering calculations for distribution and transmission line projects.
• Collaborate with civil/structural engineers for line profile, structure selection, and design reports.
• Provide route selection/staking plans and perform line staking at site if required.

Job Summary

The Transmission Line Design Engineer provides and recommends the best value of design that meets project requirements for operability, reliability, maintainability, and safety. He/She develops design standards and methodologies, and ensures the quality assurance of engineering designs for the projects.

• Ensure engineering design is compliant with client requirements and all relevant standards.
• Acts as a subject matter expert regarding electrical distribution and transmission line engineering activities on both overhead and underground.
• Determines the capacity, system voltage selection, conductor selection, OHGW, OPGW, and insulator selection.
• Provides specifications for insulators, conductors, shield wires, and other line accessories
• Conduct necessary engineering calculations related to distribution and transmission line projects.
• Work closely with civil and structural engineers to provide transmission line profile, structure selection, clearances, design report, and others
• Provides route selection/staking plan for the line projects and may conduct actual line staking at site if required.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Advanced skills in the Microsoft Office suite of products.
• Demonstrated experience in all aspects of distribution and transmission line design from sketch level design to concept design through detailed design for construction.
• Knowledge of systems and procedures relating to the role, including practical knowledge, principles and methods

Requirements:

• Graduate of a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering; Licensed Electrical Engineer
• At least 1-5 years or more of work experience with regards to overhead distribution and Transmission line.
• Proficient in Autocad, MS Office, Google Earth, QGIS Mapping
• Knowledgeable in PLS-Cadd is an advantage.
