Job summary

Emerson in Manila is seeking a Software Test Engineer to ensure quality, reliability, and performance of innovative software for distributed enterprise environments. You will work across the full testing lifecycle with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products.

Responsibilities include designing test strategies, creating test data, executing tests, and defect tracking, while upholding quality standards and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ experience in software testing or quality assurance.
• Knowledge of SDLC practices and testing methodologies.
• Ability to translate requirements into effective test coverage.
• Experience troubleshooting systems and documenting findings clearly.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute test strategies and plans across functional, integration, system, regression, and exploratory testing.
• Create test cases, data, and configurations aligned with requirements and customer expectations.
• Validate features and end-to-end workflows across platforms and environments.
• Identify, document, analyze, and track defects with the development team.
• Assess risks and set test coverage priorities for release readiness.
• Maintain test documentation, artifacts, and traceability.
• Ensure usability, security, performance, scalability, and reliability testing.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

• Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test strategies and plans covering functional, integration, system, regression, and exploratory testing.
• Define test scope, create test cases, test data, and test configurations, ensuring alignment with product requirements, design specifications, and customer expectations.
• Ensure product quality through thorough validation of software features, end-to-end workflows, and system interactions across supported platforms and environments.
• Identify, document, analyze, troubleshoot, and track defects, working closely with development teams to ensure timely resolution, validation, verification, and continuous product quality improvement.
• Evaluate product risks and recommend appropriate test coverage, priorities, and mitigation strategies to support release readiness and overall product quality.
• Maintain accurate test documentation, test artifacts, traceability matrices, and quality reports to support project visibility, compliance, and knowledge retention.
• Ensure a holistic quality engineering approach that considers usability, security, performance, scalability, maintainability, reliability, and interoperability.
• Collaborate with developers, product owners, project managers, and other stakeholders to define test requirements, acceptance criteria, and support predictable, high-quality, and on-time product delivery.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes, methodologies, test automation, and quality engineering practices to enhance testing efficiency and effectiveness.
• Share technical knowledge, promote quality best practices, and mentor team members to strengthen organizational testing capabilities.

For This Role, You Will Need:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or any related field.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in software testing, quality assurance, customer support, or a related technical role
• Knowledge of software development lifecycle practices and testing methodologies
• Ability to analyze requirements and translate them into effective test coverage
• Experience in troubleshooting systems and documenting findings clearly
• Familiarity with Windows operating systems, networking, and database tools
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work across global teams
• A problem-solving mindset and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
• Openness to learning and adapting in a fast-evolving technical environment

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

• Knowledge of AMS Device Manager, DeltaV, Ovation, Foundation Fieldbus (FF), Profinet, and Profibus
• Experience with test automation tools (e.g., Ranorex or similar platforms)
• Exposure to virtual environments such as VMware or Hyper-V
• Familiarity with Agile development practices and tools like Azure DevOps
• Experience testing web or cloud-based applications using platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS
• Knowledge of performance, scalability, or system-level testing
• Exposure to industrial or process domains such as energy, manufacturing, or life sciences
