Job summary

Microchip Technology Inc. is seeking a Technician I to provide technical and operational support for PCB assembly and testing in engineering and production environments.

You will assist with material handling, documentation, and general admin tasks to keep test support operations efficient. The role requires a 2-year tech education in electronics disciplines, 1 year PCB assembly experience preferred, and readiness to deploy to other lab sites.

Qualifications

• Graduate of at least a 2-year technology program in Electronics, Electrical, Electromechanical, or Mechatronics.
• Preferably 1 year of PCB assembly or electronics industry experience; fresh graduates considered.
• Able to read schematics and block diagrams.
• Proficient with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
• Willing to work overtime during peak production and be deployed to other labs.

Responsibilities

• Move materials from warehouse to lab using carts to stock.
• Solder PCBs and test hardware manually.
• Review and manage BOM; check part numbers and availability.
• Request purchases for out-of-stock items and identify obsolete components.
• Update BOM documentation and maintain work logs.
• Basic troubleshooting of test hardware and component replacement during testing.

Job Description

Job Summary

Technician I provides technical and operational support for the assembly and testing of test hardware used in engineering and production environments. The role supports PCB assembly activities, material handling, documentation, and general administrative tasks to help ensure efficient and accurate test support operations.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

Material handling: Move materials from warehouse to lab using carts to stock

Hand soldering: Solder PCBs and test hardware manually

Bill of Materials (BOM) reviews: Review and manage component lists

• Check part numbers and component availability
• Request purchases for out-of-stock items
• Identify and replace obsolete components
• Update BOM documentation

Work log maintenance: Update work logs for tracking and traceability

Basic troubleshooting of test hardware

Component replacement: Find and replace defective components during testing

Requirements/Qualifications

Education Level

Graduate of at least 2-year Technology course in Electronics, Electrical, Electromechanical, or Mechatronics

Working experience

Preferably one (1) year of experience in PCB assembly, Semiconductor, Electronics company, or a related field

Fresh graduate could be considered

Other Requirements

Goal-oriented and focused on team targets

Driven to learn and constantly upgrade skills

Flexible to work overtime during peak production

Ready to deploy to other lab sites as needed.

Proficient in reading schematics and block diagrams

Skilled in analyzing technical datasheets.

Capable in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
