Job summary

GHD in Makati, Philippines is seeking a Technical Director – Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to lead the technical delivery of renewable energy projects, overseeing sizing, design, procurement, installation, commissioning and operations.

You will act as a trusted technical advisor to clients and internal teams, guide multi-disciplinary groups, mentor engineers, and contribute to work-winning activities and proposals, within a hybrid in-office model.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Electrical Engineering (advanced studies/masters – to be given preference).
• Proven leadership experience in complex technical projects with ability to guide multidisciplinary teams and influence stakeholders at senior level.
• Minimum 10 years of industry experience with deep technical expertise in BESS projects; consulting exposure is valued.
• Strong capability in BESS; target 70% technical delivery and 30% client-facing/work-winning exposure.
• Ability to drive high-performance culture through leadership, mentoring, collaboration and knowledge sharing.

What You’ll Do:

Lead the technical management and delivery of renewable energy projects, with a primary focus on Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), across all phases from development, technology selection, sizing and feasibility through to design, procurement, installation, commissioning and operations.

Act as a trusted technical advisor to clients and internal GHD teams, bringing strong BESS expertise to guide technical decisions, demonstrate capability, and build confidence in project delivery.

Support client-facing and work-winning activities by providing technical input to proposals, strengthening client relationships, identifying future project opportunities, and representing GHD’s capability in the BESS market.

• You may also contribute topower generation opportunitiesincluding wind, solar, substations, and transmission design.
• Mentor junior engineers and support their development.
• Provide technical leadership and QA/QC oversight.
• Share knowledge and contribute to GHD’s global expertise.
  

What You Bring:

• BS degree in Electrical Engineering (advanced studies/masters – to be given preference)

Proven leadership experience in complex technical projects, with the ability to guide multidisciplinary teams, influence stakeholders, and support project outcomes at a senior level.

Minimum 10 years of industry experience, with deep technical expertise in BESS projects. Experience in a consulting environment will be highly regarded.

Strong technical capability in BESS is essential, with a target profile of 70% technical delivery and 30% client-facing, business development or work-winning exposure.

Ability to drive a high-performance culture through effective leadership, mentoring, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.
