Job summary

RSO Architecture seeks a Technical Director to lead and shape the technical direction of complex web applications. You will drive UI engineering excellence, implement scalable design systems, and ensure high-velocity delivery with robust testing and accessibility standards.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage distributed engineers, and evangelize technology trends to build a compelling product vision.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in software programming, specializing in UI engineering and full stack web development.
• Deep experience building scalable Design Systems and using Storybook.
• Experience with modern architectures and frameworks that interoperate.
• Proven ability to lead a geographically dispersed technical team.
• Strong communication to explain tech stacks and architectures to varied audiences.
• Experience with React state management libraries (Redux, Zustand, Recoil, XState, etc).
• Experience with REST and GraphQL services, and CI/CD platforms.

Responsibilities

• Oversee production project life cycles with emphasis on resource efficiency and soundness.
• Research and introduce new technologies for management and staff.
• Provide technical support for events, programs and productions.
• Collaborate with design teams to create mockups and technical drawings.
• Explain technical requirements to various teams involved in a production.
• Analyze user requirements and metrics to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Assist with in-house standards and monitor quality during productions.
• Lead full SDLC in Git and modern development workflows (Agile, SCRUM).
• Ensure accessibility and security in line with WCAG 2.1 AA+ standards.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities and duties of a Technical Director are slightly different depending upon the specific types of production. However, their main duties and responsibilities include:

• Overseeing each production project’s life cycle from beginning to end by emphasizing technical resource efficiency and soundness
• Researching and introducing new technologies for the executive management team and employees of an organization
• Providing technical support for events, programs and productions
• Developing and revising statements of work with accurate cost and time estimates
• Collaborating with the design team to create mockups and technical drawings for customer approval
• Explaining the technical requirements to the different teams involved in a production
• Analyzing user requirements and metrics to ensure customer satisfaction upon completion of the production
• Assisting with the creation of in-house standards and monitoring quality during productions to make improvements, where necessary
• Extensive experience in software programming, specializing in UI engineering and the full stack of web application development
• A world-class portfolio of distinctive digital web products or websites, and a love for clean & efficient code
• Deep experience thinking and building flexible and scalable Design Systems that follow the Atomic Design or equivalent principles. Using tools like Storybook as a robust delivery for well-documented, living design systems
• Experience implementing robust testing plans for UI systems which ensure that regressions are minimized and the team can have high confidence making substantial changes at high velocity
• Proven understanding of application architecture, with the ability to design and develop applications that leverage modern technologies and frameworks that are compatible with one another
• Experience managing the full SDLC in version control systems (Git, GitHub) and modern development workflows (Agile, SCRUM)
• Experience with various React state management libraries (Redux, Zustand, Recoil, XState, etc)
• Experience working with backend service in REST and GraphQL
• Experience with and ability to troubleshoot CI/CD platforms, CDNs, and hosting services
• Passionate for web accessibility and security, as well as knowledge of the latest guidelines and standards of WCAG 2.1 AA+
• Must be a compelling and clear communicator; able to explain the full possibilities of the tech stack/architecture and represent your team to internal and external audiences with differing levels of technical fluency
• Proven experience leading a geographically dispersed technical team
• Act as product evangelist with deep curiosity on technology trends and being able to go deep into technology and relate technical enhancements to build a product vision
• Possess a strong foundation in building scalable, reliable, and high-performance systems
