Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with senior leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the Software Engineering function, setting technical direction and delivery practices.
• Oversee QA to ensure quality, performance, and reliability before release.
• Direct DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines, release management, and deployment reliability.
• Oversee Project Management and Business Analysis to ensure initiatives are scoped, planned, resourced, and delivered on time.
• Oversee Application Support for timely production issue resolution and feedback between support and engineering.
• Own production operations for applications and services delivered by the Software Engineering organization.
• Establish and enforce engineering governance: coding standards, reviews, architecture guidelines, security, and change management.
• Monitor system performance and reliability, driving uptime and incident resolution improvements.

About the role

The Director of Software Engineering and IT Services leads the company's software engineering and technology delivery functions, with ownership of Software Engineering, Quality Assurance (QA), DevOps, Project Management, Business Analysis, Application Support, and IT Operations. This role is accountable for technology delivery, production operations, engineering governance, and people leadership across these functions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and grow the Software Engineering function, setting technical direction, engineering standards, and delivery practices.

• Oversee Quality Assurance (QA) to ensure products meet quality, performance, and reliability standards prior to release.

• Direct DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, release management, and deployment reliability.

• Oversee Project Management and Business Analysis functions, ensuring initiatives are properly scoped, planned, resourced, and delivered on time.

• Oversee Application Support to ensure timely resolution of production issues and a strong feedback loop between support and engineering.

• Own production operations for applications and services delivered by the Software Engineering organization.

• Establish and enforce engineering governance: coding standards, code review practices, architecture guidelines, security and compliance requirements, and change management processes.

• Monitor system performance and reliability, driving continuous improvement in uptime, incident response, and root-cause resolution.

• Directly manage and develop leads/managers across Software Engineering, QA, DevOps, Project Management, Business Analysis, and Application Support.

• Build a strong engineering culture focused on accountability, technical excellence, and collaboration.

About you

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Significant experience (typically 10+ years) in software engineering, including several years in a senior leadership or director-level role overseeing multiple technology functions.

• Demonstrated experience leading Software Engineering, QA, and/or DevOps teams, including hands-on experience with modern software delivery practices (Agile/Scrum, CI/CD).

• Experience managing Project Management and/or Business Analysis functions, with a strong understanding of scoping, planning, and delivering technology initiatives.

• Proven people-management experience, including hiring, performance management, and developing engineering leaders.

• Experience managing or contributing to technology budgets.

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to work closely with peer technology leaders and non-technical stakeholders alike.
