Job summary

Private Advertiser is seeking a Technical Designer with Quantification to translate design concepts into precise technical drawings and accurate material take-offs for costed construction activities. You will develop shop drawings, ensure constructability, and maintain records from approved drawings through as-built updates.

The role requires strong drafting skills, proficiency in AutoCAD and SketchUp or Revit, and collaboration with architects, engineers, and site teams to validate measurements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience in design, quantity surveying, or QA/QC in construction preferred
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp/Revit or similar design tools
  • Knowledge of construction materials, methods, and standards
  • Familiarity with QA/QC inspection processes and documentation
  • Understanding of building codes and industry standards

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed architectural and technical drawings, shop drawings, and as-built plans
  • Interpret design intent and convert conceptual designs into buildable technical drawings
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, and project teams to finalize construction documents
  • Update drawings according to revisions, site instructions, and approved Change Orders
  • Prepare accurate BOQ (Bill of Quantities) and BOM (Bill of Materials) from approved drawings
  • Conduct quantity take-offs for architectural, structural, and interior works
  • Validate measurements with site engineers and design leads
  • Review drawings and specifications to ensure technical accuracy and constructability
  • Conduct site inspections to verify workmanship and material compliance
  • Maintain drawing registers, revision logs, and document records

About the role

The Technical Designer with Quantification Role is responsible for developing detailed technical drawings and ensuring accurate material quantity take-offs to support design, costing, and construction activities. This role translates design concepts into precise technical plans, prepares BOQs/BOMs based on approved drawings, and coordinates closely with architects, engineers, and the site team to validate measures and material requirements. The position plays a key role in ensuring design accuracy, cost efficiency, and smooth project execution by integrating technical detailing with reliable quantity computation and documentation. The Technical Designer also supports procurement and project management by providing timely and accurate material schedules, revisions, and as-built updates.
