The Tax Specialist is responsible for ensuring the company’s compliance with all applicable tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements. This role supports the preparation and timely filing of tax returns, maintains accurate tax records, and monitors regulatory developments issued by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) and other relevant government agencies. The Tax Specialist also assists in addressing tax compliance matters, audits, assessments, and disputes, and provides support in identifying opportunities for legally compliant tax savings.
Prepare, review, and file tax returns, including VAT, withholding tax, income tax, and other applicable tax filings, in accordance with BIR regulations.
Reconcile tax returns and tax-related accounts with the company’s accounting records to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Ensure the timely submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual tax returns and other required regulatory reports.
Maintain complete and organized documentation for all tax-related transactions, filings, schedules, and correspondence.
Address tax compliance matters relating to income tax, withholding tax, VAT, and other applicable taxes.
Monitor changes in tax laws, regulations, and BIR issuances, assess their potential impact on the company, and recommend appropriate compliance measures.
Investigate tax compliance issues and assist in developing and implementing appropriate resolutions.
Coordinate and provide support during tax audits, assessments, examinations, and inquiries conducted by regulatory authorities.
Prepare responses to tax notices and assist in resolving tax assessments, disputes, and other regulatory matters when necessary.
Analyze the company’s tax liabilities and identify opportunities for legally compliant tax planning and savings.
Collaborate with the Accounting and Finance teams to ensure accurate and consistent tax reporting and compliance.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
2–3 years of relevant experience in tax compliance, preferably in a corporate accounting or finance environment.
Strong knowledge of Philippine tax laws, BIR regulations, and tax compliance requirements.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable working with accounting and tax-related data.
Excellent organizational, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when handling financial and regulatory information.
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple deadlines effectively.
Professional certification, such as Certified Tax Technician (CTT), is an advantage.
