Tax Manager (Based in PH)
Playmate is currently looking for a Tax Manager to continue to drive the financial growth of the Philippine online gaming marketplace. A Tax Manager is a financial professional responsible for overseeing an organization’s tax compliance, planning, and reporting to ensure adherence to federal, state, and local tax regulations. They develop tax strategies to optimize financial efficiency, manage audits, and ensure timely and accurate tax filings. They will be part of a team of professionals working to maintain order and transparency for the company’s finances. Preparing financial statements and reporting are large parts of the day‑to‑day work. The ideal candidate will be well‑versed in accounting principles and able to work comfortably with numbers and attention to detail. The goal is to contribute to the overall efficient operation of the department and help the company be fully aware of its financial condition. This role requires a person with sufficient experience in the financial sector, great interpersonal skills, and excellent problem‑solving skills.
Responsibilities
- Accurately prepare and file tax returns in a timely manner.
- Review information for tax filing or other statutory reporting to government agencies.
- Supervise members of the tax team to ensure that tax returns are completed correctly.
- Assist in providing documents related to tax audits (internal and external).
- Develop tax strategies to assist clients in being tax compliant.
- Identify tax problems and develop solutions.
- Complete responses and schedules in preparation for income tax audits.
- Monitor developments in tax legislation or BIR (Bureau of Internal Revenue).
- Inform management and staff of developments in tax law and updates.
Requirements
- Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Accountancy with good scholastic records.
- Preferably a Certified Public Accountant.
- At least eight years of relevant work experience in various areas of financial accounting and participation in external or internal audit of the company.
- Preferably at least five years of relevant work experience in an audit, tax consultancy, or management advisory firm.
- Proven experience as a tax manager, public accountant, or similar role.
- Knowledge of tax laws and regulations for proper tax compliance and experience in processing government reportorial requirements (SSS, BIR, Pag-IBIG, PhilHealth).
- Preferably with work experience in an auditing firm or with a strong background in internal controls and accounting standards.
- Involvement in handling BIR tax audit is an advantage.
- Proactive and diligent work attitude, able to work under pressure and with minimum supervision, systematic, organized, and possessing above‑average analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good moral character and work ethics.
- Knowledge of Oracle systems and applications is an advantage.
Proficient in Microsoft applications, particularly Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
