MediCard Phils., Inc. is seeking a senior tax professional in the Philippines to lead tax compliance and reporting across the group. The role requires a CPA, a minimum of seven years of tax experience, and strong IFRS/PFRS knowledge for accurate BIR filings and coordination with outsourced tax services.
The position involves monthly, quarterly, and annual tax support, transfer pricing coordination, and liaison with tax authorities. A proactive, detail-oriented candidate will thrive in this role.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Ensure timely and accurate tax return filings with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR)
Review and comment on tax calculations and tax returns prepared by the outsourced tax services provider prior to endorsement to Senior Manager, Tax Compliance and Reporting for sign-off and approval
Provide, in a timely manner, the required tax support for the monthly/quarterly/ annual financial reporting processes
Review proposed tax bookings/ tax adjustments by the outsourced tax service provider as part of the monthly close process and perform analysis of variances of tax accounts (including current and deferred taxes) vs. budget/ forecast and vs previous year
Provide, in a timely manner, the required tax support for the Annual Strategic Planning exercise, which involve updating of the current year tax forecast and calculation of the tax budget for the next three years
Ensure that all related party transactions of entities within the AIA Philippines Group are supported by transfer pricing study in coordination with the outsourced tax service provider and that such studies are refreshed within the required period by the BIR
Handle calculation of local business taxes for the head office and branches of the covered AIA PH Group entities and oversee the coordination of the the payment of such taxes to the relevant LGUs and renewal of the related business permits
Advise on tax treatment/ tax position in relation to any inquiries raised by different functions within AIA Philippines Group entities
Address any requests/ requirements from Group Tax
Liaise with tax authorities and provide timely support to the AIA Philippines Group entities on tax assessments and examinations
Assist in the identification and implementation of process improvements for the tax reporting and accounting function
Performs other responsibilities and duties periodically assigned by supervisor in order to meet operational and/or other requirements
Minimum Job Requirements:
Education – Must possess Bachelor of Science in Accountancy degree
Experience – At least seven (7) years tax experience with any of the big 4 audit firms (Navarro Amper & Co., Isla Lipana & Co., Sycip Gorres Velayo & Co. and Manabat San Agustin & Co); or same years of experience in tax accounting, compliance and reporting with any of the top 10 life insurance companies in the Philippines
Certifications/licenses – Must be a Certified Public Accountant
Special skills – Has knowledge and experience in IFRS/ PFRS and internal control practices; proficient in MS Office applications; has basic knowledge in SAP, Business Intelligence, with good command in English (both oral and written)
