Job Summary:
The Senior Tax Associate is responsible for assisting in tax compliance, preparation, and reporting for individuals and businesses in the Philippines. This role requires familiarity with the tax regulations set by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) and other government agencies. The Tax Associate will ensure accurate and timely filing of tax returns, assist in audits, and support clients with tax planning strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and file various tax returns, including Value-Added Tax (VAT), Income Tax, Withholding Tax, Percentage Tax, and other BIR-mandated filings.
- Assist in the preparation of tax computations, schedules, and supporting documents for tax compliance.
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of tax reports to the BIR and other regulatory agencies.
- Conduct tax research and keep up-to-date with changes in Philippine tax laws, BIR rulings, and other relevant regulations.
- Assist in handling BIR tax audits, assessments, and compliance reviews.
- Coordinate with clients and internal teams to gather necessary financial data and documentation.
- Support tax planning initiatives to help minimize tax liabilities for clients and the company.
- Utilize tax software and accounting tools to streamline tax preparation and reporting.
- Assist in preparing reports, memos, and documentation required for tax disputes, appeals, or clarifications with regulatory authorities.
- Ensure compliance with other government agencies such as the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), and Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) when applicable.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Certification: CPA (Certified Public Accountant) is an advantage but not required.
- Certified Tax Technician (CTT) is an advantage but not required.
- Experience: 2-3 years of experience in tax compliance, audit, or accounting (fresh graduates are welcome to apply).
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of Philippine taxation laws, BIR forms, and tax filing processes. Familiarity with accounting and tax software such as SAP, Xero, QuickBooks, or eFPS/eBIRForms is a plus.
- Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze financial data and ensure tax compliance.
- Attention to Detail: Accuracy in tax computation and document preparation.
- Communication Skills: Ability to explain tax matters clearly to clients and colleagues.
- Time Management: Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Professionalism & Integrity: Strong ethical standards and confidentiality in handling sensitive financial information.
