Job summary

Inmar seeks an experienced IBM AIX systems administrator for an office-based role in Mexico. You will install, upgrade, patch, and tune IBM Power Systems, manage LPARs with PowerVM/VIOS, and implement high availability with PowerHA while coordinating with application and network teams.

Responsibilities include storage integration (SAN, NPIV, MPIO) and backups, system monitoring, security patching, automation with shell scripting, documentation, ticket handling, and on-call rotations.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience with IBM Power Systems hardware and virtualization (PowerVM, VIOS).
  • Experience with PowerHA.
  • Experience with enterprise storage technologies (SAN, IBM Storwize, etc.).

Job description

This role is office-based in Mexico. The role requires professional fluency in English (spoken and written).

Major Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
Technical (40%)
  • Perform system installations, upgrades, patching, and performance tuning.

  • Manage logical partitions (LPARs) using PowerVM/VIOS.

  • Implement and support high availability solutions (PowerHA / HACMP).

  • Manage storage integration (SAN, NPIV, MPIO) and backup solutions.

Administrative (40%)
  • Proficiency in AIX system internals, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.

  • Familiarity with backup/recovery tools (e.g., BRMS, TSM/Spectrum Protect).

  • Administer, configure, and maintain IBM AIX operating systems on IBM Power Systems.

  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions.

  • Ensure system security compliance, including patch management and auditing.

  • Automate routine administrative tasks using shell scripting (ksh/bash).

  • Collaborate with application, database, and network teams to support enterprise platforms.

  • Maintain documentation for system configurations, procedures, and incident resolution.

  • Manage ServiceNow ticket queue.

  • Participate in on-call rotation for production support as needed.

Project Management (20%)
  • Be the point person for team projects when required including: Scheduling, Documentation, Ticket Approvals, etc.
Required Qualifications:
  • Strong experience with IBM Power Systems hardware and virtualization (PowerVM, VIOS).

  • Experience with PowerHA.

  • Experience with enterprise storage technologies (SAN, IBM Storwize, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with IBM AIX system administration.

  • IBM certifications (e.g., IBM Certified System Administrator – AIX).

  • Experience with NIM (Network Installation Manager).

  • Knowledge of security best practices and compliance standards.

  • Exposure to cloud integration or hybrid infrastructure.

  • Experience with monitoring tools (Galileo, iDoctor, PerfNav, etc.).

  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and automation tools (Ansible, Terraform).

  • Strong knowledge of Unix/Linux shell scripting.
